figuring yardage

I'm emptying/renovating my childhood mid-century home, and am keeping an awesome little sofa with drop-down arms. I pulled off the old white pleather my mom had put on it in the 70's and found the back was still the awesome original 50's barkcloth (which I will cut off and make a pillow of). I found fabric on-line that I want to use, (thanks to a post on this board) but am not sure how to figure the yardage. I'll have a local upholstery shop do the work, but I'm pretty sure they won't have any fabric choices that I would like.

Can anybody tell me how to figure yardage? I think it might be wise to have the fabric ordered before I haul it to the shop.
