I think that Tobacco Road will be beautiful in your foyer and hallway. I sampled Plantation Beige for my two story foyer and upstairs hallway and it came out to yellow looking and it was also to light. My house faces west and I have a HUGE window above my front door so I get a lot of sunlight. I ended up using Tobacco Road and LOVE it. The Tobacco Road looks really good with my oak floors and I think it would look GREAT with your wood floors. Go for Tobacco Road!!!!!

Hi polkadots :-) I'm glad you like the Tobacco Road. I know what you mean about the slightly green undertones at night. I noticed that at first too, but was so glad it didn't have pink undertones that I'm fine with it. I think it's a beautiful color! I used it in my kitchen and hearth room and did the Plantation Beige in my living room, dining room and foyer. I have to point out the difference to people. You can see easily into the living room from the hearth room and they nearly look identical. I think it's because the room with Tobacco Road has more natural light than the room with Plantation Beige. So, all that is to say that if you love the Tobacco Road I would recommend, as lauraa did, that you use it in the foyer also. I think a foyer looks good with a little drama, and honestly the Tobacco Road isn't all that dark. Your foyer area looks large and well lit, I think you'd be happy with it :-)

I skipped 2 down on the strip and used Sandy Lane in my office and for the entire upstairs. Now that is way light but works fine for me in those areas.

I've love to see the pics of all your Tobacco Road when you get it done!

Hi TB friend! I love this color and am glad you do too! I am sorry I didn't use it in MY foyer. I don't have a two story foyer, but I don't think it would be too dark. I say go for it! I have 2 gallons of PB I would like to use elsewhere in this house. Maybe the foyer? I sampled it, but didn't see any green. I originally saw PB in a freinds foyer and loved it! It was a soft golden tan. Very pretty! Make sure your paint matches your chip. Dab some on and let it dry just to be sure it was mixed right. Please share some pictures of your TB room. Funny this should come up. I was just thinking the other night how I really love this color! I've never second guessed it. A relief for sure, LOL!

Thanks to all my Tobacco Road friends! Laura, do you have pictures of your foyer - I'd love to see! I don't have any pictures of the Great Room yet as the drapes are still down (and as it typically goes, now that I have the new paint up it seems like I need new drapes too!). I have the painter rescheduled for mid-December. I'm anxious to get this done! I'm curious, what paint and finish did all of you use? I did the SW Cashmere flat in the Great Room in an effort to hide imperfections on the tall walls. I am debating about that again or the low lustre (eggshell) for the foyer/hallway as it gets more rough use. My painter gets a good price on Cashmere and it does seem to look nice. I think the eggshell might look darker (noticed that in another post where the person did stripes of the same color - one flat, one eggshell). Just curious and thanks again!

I used the eggshell finish. I usually used flat but the paint guy talked me into eggshell and I like it. So, now that I have painted just about every room in my new house I have used eggshell in all of the rooms.

Hi - I'm another Tobacco Road person - I used it in my kitchen and love it. I also have Plantation Beige in my family room, hallways, and foyer. I like it too, but I can see why it might not work in certain settings or lights. I don't think TR would be too dark for a foyer - I'd say go for it. Good luck ...

I used flat finish. Your eggshell looks great lauraa! I like both of those finishes, I was just told touch up is easier with flat and since I was painting an entire new house it was also a little less money. With small children I might've gone with eggshell though, but we're empty nesters.

Laura, thanks for all the additional pictures...your house looks great! Do you like your lantern-style light fixture? I am considering that kind as well as a traditional chandlier type (no upward facing glass bowls).

Acomom, when I first saw your post I thought, acomom, where do I know that name from? Then I remembered. I am pretty sure I tried to "find" you about 9 months ago after seeing your finished kitchen on the FKB. I loved your backsplash. I ended up with Jerusalem Gold with some small Sonoma tileworks accents. I think you had J. Pearl and some larger sonoma accents...if I remember correctly. Now that I think about it, I remember liking your paint as well! Thanks for responding to this post and for providing some inspiration for my backsplash!

I really like my light fixture in the entry. Thank goodness because I think my hubby would have a heart attack if I even mentioned putting up a new one. The fixture came with the house and I tend to like the darker color fixtures. I have only changed out one light fixture in this house and it was in the dining room.

I painted my hubby's office the darker color below Tobacco Road, Tattersall Brown (I think that is the name). I am thinking about getting my paint guy to mix a color for me that is between Tobacco Road and Tattersall Brown for my kitchen. I am going to be painting my kitchen cabinets in the spring so I will be painting the walls also. I am going to try that mix or just use Tobacco Road.

Laruaa...it's fun to see the even darker version of TR. I love it! The office color is beautiful. I never considered the darker but now I wish I had.
