Who used the curly ribbons on their tree last year?

I am having a total brain freeze and all of my searches have turned up nothing. Someone, very creatively, used ribbon that was kind of curled and pushed into the tree with floral wire? Worked as more of a filler or accent once all of the ornaments were on? Anyone? Someone please step forth and take credit - I need a picture again, please.

I just posted this same photo to another posters question. My ribbon may not qualify as curly. This is wire-edged ribbon which I accordian folded and placed between branches. Probably 2 foot pieces.

This will be my first year using a ribboned bow tree topper with flowing ribbons. Do a search for ribbon or bow tree toppers then you should find a lot of pictures showing the long ribbons going down the tree.

I'm going to barely push my ribbon into the tree because I don't want to hide it. I'm going with ribbon because I can NEVER get a garland done correctly! lol

Put your ribbon on first though. And all you need is the wire rimmed ribbon.

Overwatering and poor drainage can cause leave drop and yellowing of leaves in plants. However, willows characteristically need plenty of water and will tolerate poor drainage. If the tree has not been moved recently (the same light/air/temp) and your fertilizing and watering habits have not changed drastically or suddenly for this tree for the last two years, I would consider the following factors in order for willow trees: 1) Look for pests and insects. 2) Inspect for rots and infection both on diseased leaves and branches. 3) Observe and notate the pattern of yellowing (mostly bottom or the newer younger leaves, or which) to figure out possible nutrient deficiencies. Plant nutritional imbalance is usually caused by a combination of nutrients and factors. Which leaves are dropping (only yellow ones, both old and new, and where)? Then, use the latin name for your curly willow tree to search and look up the common causes and symptoms of yellow dropping leaves for this variety. 4) What ideal growing conditions may be missing for this variety with what you're currently doing? What can be improved: pH and better drainage or nutrients (though willows are tolerant to diverse conditions)? 5) Is the tree in its proper container size and ideal growing medium (potting mix generally not an issue for willows unless it's exceptionally not providing good structural and nutrient supports to the plant and aeration to the roots) - willow's characteristic invasive roots may require repotting. 6) Examine root color and health Have fun getting to know your willow and good luck!

Just one more question...Please! How wide is the ribbon you use? Was just looking at photos from last year and in the pictures the ribbion just seems to get lost. I bought it at michaels last year fineally! My tree is red, green and gold... (seem to be doing less green this year). The ribbon is a plaid of the three colors. Can't replace it this year. Maybe I should go around the tree instead of bottom to top.

Measure the circumference of the tree for each layer first, then multiply it by 1.5-2, it before you cut each piece. So, your first layer of ribbon might be, say, 12- 18" up from the bottom of the tree... How big around is your tree at that point? Let's say it is 5feet. Multiply by 1.5-2 to get some room to swag. Cut a 7-10 foot long length, and play with it. Then measure the circumference up another 18" or so and do it again. The exact spacing will be a matter of preference and the size of the tree. These were lengths of cut mesh wired ribbon, folded in half. Then I think the poster used floral wire in the middle and twisted it making it like a pic (sp?). Then the mesh ribbon looked like it was kind of curled and then placed into the tree at different spots. I am probably not explaining it properly.

You would cut several say 8 inch lengths and then assemble and curl them (somehow) and place them into the tree where there were empty spots. It was a great look.

fnmroberts - kind of the idea, but these looked curled IYKWIM. Pretty tree!

oakley - I hear you. I don't want to drape it from top to bottom, only place the "curled mesh" picks (maybe & sp?) if you will. Seems that nothing from GW holiday 2010 is coming up when I search. There is a recent thread asking bout tree topper bows and there was a similar pic on that thread. Your tree and bow for the top are going to look great. I don't blame you for not wanting to hide all of pretty ornaments and your hard work!

Maybe the original poster from last year will pop up. I am thinking it might be bleigh.

Work, GW must have deleted some of their topics because we've had a yearly Christmas Tree thread and now they're gone. Stupid me deleted last years after I had saved it. UGH.

I'm on AOL, and when I do a websearch I always include the word "Pictures" and I get a row of pictures that I click on which gives me tons of ideas.

I searched every which way for "Ribbons on CT's, CT's decorated with ribbons," etc., and a lot of pics came up.

Now I'll be looking at these all afternoon! lol. I'll keep you in mind while looking.

Thanks oakley. DD surprised us with a weekend visit, so I've been preoccupied (still have Christmas tree rattling in my brain, just haven't been able to do much about it). It is amazing the things you can stumble upon, and then those sites they lead you to more and more. I could spend an entire day just on pinterest and blogs. lol

I will trying googling if the poster who had the pretty curled meshed ribbon doesn't show up by tomorrow morning!

Also, that white tree (whimsical) posted from Houzz is really cute. Went on that site and saw some really pretty ideas;)

msventoux - close, but no. That tree is beautiful, but that's not the way the the ribbon was put on the tree tho. I think it was cut into lengths (not sure how many inches per "curl", folded in half and using a piece of floral wire twisted making two tails if you will. I think they were then hand curled and then you push them like picks into the empty spots in your tree. I am thinking it was bleigh, but it may be someone else. IIRC, the poster was getting ready to move and the buyer wanted the tree and mantle decor as part of of the purchase? Thanks for trying to help.

It isn't ribbons but yesterday I was at Kmart and they had many different style floral picks in the Xmas section. Maybe something like that would suffice if the ribbon person doesn't step up? I think they had many more in the store but here's an idea of what I mean

I have been away for maybe 5-6 years for one reason or another, but what happened to the forum onto which JudithVA used to post her beautiful floral arrangements and table vignettes and venues about her home....

I am sure many of you here will recall that...or hopefully so.

It is the holidays forum that she used to post on all the time. They have a whole collection of her photos saved over there. Just post over there and ask if you'd like to see them.

She posted here a few weeks ago and said she is having computer trouble.

I miss her stuff too!

dawnp - Yep, that's the poster. I believe that she did a tree for her DD's room as well. How on earth did you find it? I tried every possible combination of words I could think of to search. Thank you so very much!

hhireno - Love the idea of the pics, in fact was just talking to my DM this morning about adding some things to our tree. In particular, that bright (celedon?) green color. Thank you for posting the link. I plan to scan the stores in an effort to change up things a bit this year.

Just purchased a new slim tree as a section of the lights on our standard size tree died the day before Christmas last year. I wasn't about to dismantle everything to try and fool with them at that late date. Luckily, I just found a slim prelit on sale, so I am good to go as soon as I package up the Thanksgiving leftovers, and bid adieu to my last guest.

Black Friday is tree decorating day here. I try to send everyone out, stack the CD player with Christmas music and tackle the tree. Can't wait.

My curly ribbon tree isn't at all what you were thinking. I don't have a photo, but before I was even married (one i college now), I decorated a tree with all the ornaments I had and bought some bright pink, purple and silver ones at Pier One -- inexpensive fillers, then used pink, purple and silver curling ribbon in long curls instead of tinsel or garland and tossed white feathers on it -- as close to a white Christmas as I was going to get in Houston. It was a really fun a pretty tree.

Hi WIP - so glad it was the right one. I just searched by her name but all forums because I suspected it might be on the holiday forum.

I love her trees and they've inspired me to embellish mine this year. We usually have a big company holiday party at our house but this year we are not so I'm not going to go all out decorating so many different rooms. I am definitely going to do the tree though and I'll have more time and energy to really make it special.
