Electronic Dog Door/Hide-a-way Ironing Board
Comments (21)LOL - I have seen him use the doggy door at his parents when we got locked out once. Was in a hurry trying to post and didn't even think about specifying what I was talking about. If you get the built-in iron center I recommend seeing it in person and try to fit your iron in it and whatever else you want to store there. As to having a bell for them to ring to be let out or come in. Never have needed that. They (kitty and dogs) learned perfectly fine on how to let us know without it. I like the idea of the built-in doggy door. If you decide you don't want it later you could always cover it up later with insulation, sheetrock and siding. Might want to check some sizes of different ones to see what is the general size and then build a frame that would accomodate any of the with another sub-frame built around it....See MoreIdeas for ironing board system?
Comments (2)I saw one at Lowe's the other day. But do a google and check what's available. Below is a web site for a a board system that I haven't seen in person, so don't know what it really looks like, but I like the sales pitch. You might also check out a vacuum store. Sometimes they also sell these type of items. Here is a link that might be useful: ironing board...See MoreFold out ironing board...
Comments (11)Excuse the non-finish in the pics, that's the primer coat which after sanding it down was going to leave it as such and poly it, but glad I never did as now we are renovating the utility room later next year and it will all be changed. We installed this fold out in our laundry room inset into the wall, not the drawer style you show. I used to sew frequently and needed to press seams, etc. I haven't used ours for that much in the last couple years, but I do use it frequently to press clothes - especially when I'm in a hurry. This has a smaller ironing board (42" total length - not nearly as large as my regular sized ironing board stored in the hall closet and unused now) with the sleeve board option (and I use that often as well). I love the storage area for the iron, the swivel light, and the outlet. I added a hook for hanging clothes. I can't attest to the drawer style you show, but I use this one now for all ironing and couldn't live without it. ETA: the board itself swivels in both directions which makes it handy because my washer/dryer is directly across from it, so I often use it at a slanted position. I'd say take into consideration room needed to open the one you show, good lighting, and iron storage/outlet. If you have all these, the smaller boards are handy!...See MoreDoes anyone have a fold away ironing board drawer?
Comments (3)I too used to have a wall built in ironing board and loved it. In our new home I went with the drawer style similar to what you are showing. I like it for the convenience for just an item or two, but do not love it for larger items and more than a couple of pieces. Plugging the iron in on the back wall of the counter is not an issue at all and my counter is almost 40 inches deep...See MoreUser
