I like the mirror.

Oh I like that mirror a lot.

I also think the mirror would look nice on that wall. I like the size.

What's in the room now........the sofa or the other pieces of furniture? Without seeing the whole room, it appears the taped area on the wall overpowers the rest of the furniture.

I really like the idea of moulding and chair rail!

I love the moulding. You can also do a smaller moulding below the bigger one -- so there'd be a large rectangle up top, a smaller one below.
I also like the mirror, but it depends on what it will reflect.

I think all that molding will be too much. If the mirror is a good price, try that first. I liked the idea when it was first mentioned.

Its just the right proportion, in my view, and better than all the molding, which I think in your petite room will be overwhelming. I also don't think you need a chair rail...I think it has the potential to shorten the height of the room.

I like the mirror too. If it's a very reasonable price, go for it, you can always sell it if you get it home and it's not your cup of tea. But looks like it will go well with the rest of your room & furniture.

Ok, well it's $100, which for that size doesn't seem bad at all compared to the $500 and up Horchow mirrors. I will give them a call and hopefully they haven't sold it. I'm partial to the molding but I'm trusting you all on this one (the ones's who said they like the mirror).

I'm not so sure I would be comfortable sitting on the loveseat with a mirror off to my side like that.

Love the mirror and the placement. Not crazy about molding idea.

For me, there seems to be a lot of scale issues in the room and when corrected, I think the mirror would look fine. Forgive me if you're already aware of the issue that the love seat and the coffee table feel too small and as a result the side chair feels too big. Adding the mirror at this point will only further make the room feel out of scale. It would also be nice to add another table and lap on the opposite side (I like symmetry though).

Thanks for all the feedback on the mirror! I'm supposed to get it tomorrow so if it all turns out, I will post pictures.

Also thanks for pointing out the scale issues in my room. Someone also had pointed that out on my other post about this room and I think that you all are right. I did not realize that so thanks for making me aware.

I said in my other post that I was going to get a new sofa but the size depends on whether I want to put it on the long wall or in front of the windows. Maybe I can find something in between a loveseat and a sofa.

tryingtodecorate - regarding the size of your couch/loveseat/sofa.... for what it's worth (it helped me) Jane F. told me that I shouldn't worry about what something is called (couch/loveseat/sofa) just figure out what size I needed and go for that. One store will call it one thing and another will call it something else. And if you're looking on craigslist, people will call it all sorts of different things. So just go by actual dimensions, not sizes. :)

I think the mirror will look great! You could go a hundred different expected ways with that wall, but I like the mirror idea. The one thing that jumps out at me are the sconces on either side of the picture...I would bring them in a little closer to the picture. As is, they seem to be placed a little wider than the loveseat and for some reason my eye picked up on that right away. Looking forward to more pics when you get the mirror hung!

I would not have done a mirror there - thinking about what it would reflect, which is an important issue when you use a large mirror. IMO, it will break up the room and make the narrower walls seem even more different. But it sounds like you have bought it, so forward you go, and see if YOU like it. In the end, that is what is most important. If you decide you donâÂÂt like it there, it could always hang sideways over the couch if you use that on the long wall.

I love panel moulding for some uses, but I donâÂÂt think that will help the flow of your room, or the disparate sizes and angles of the walls.

Les, you are making me have second thoughts! I think the reflection would be ok. It's the windows, curtain and small art between the windows but the mirror would be off center so I don't know. I hope I'm not making a mistake!

Stand where the mirror would be on the wall and look straight ahead. That is the view that will be reflected for the most part in the mirror. What I am thinking is that based on the side and placement, you are going to get part of a window, and then part of the middle space between the windows.

Do you have another wall mirror or behind the door mirror that you could prop there temporarily and see what the reflection might be? Even one of those inexpensive $5 door mirrors from K-Mart would do it - not as large, but it would give you some idea.

I do mean what I wrote, tho. If YOU love the idea and love the look, then you should do it - it is YOUR space to enjoy!
