Help Please, Buying used comm. toro tomorrow!!
Comments (6)Just remember the words of that famous old Huckster, P.T.Barnum! "There's a sucker born every minute!" My take on it: If you are a good mechanic, and know how to fix lawn and garden equipment, and engines, and other things---well--yeah, you might luck out! But--what happens when yer "good deal" goes sour, with a blown engine a month after you have bought it?! Did he have a maintenance plan to keep tabs on oil levels, tires, blades, belts, all of that and more? I think you'd be buying a "Pig in a Poke." My experience with those deals is that the buyer gets the shaft, in most cases. unless you have known that guy all yer life, and know how he ran his business, and had a maintenance plan for his equipment, i'd say:"Stay away!" If he's just trying to get rid of the old stuff, make him an offer. I have bought up some things by making a "ridiculous offer"! Caveat emptor!...See MoreHas anyone seen any really nice hanging plants around?
Comments (22)Okay, so after I said I don't buy pre-made overfertilized rootbound (now if not soon) baskets, I just saw one at Market Basket that I couldn't pass up. It was a nice 10" pot of a combination of white and pink diasca, purple verbena and scaveola for $16.98. And even when I do buy a basket, I never buy combos. But this one just appealed to me today for some reason. Just one problem with buying hanging plants at Market Basket... not much room in the shopping cart for groceries - LOL! But several people stopped me to comment on how pretty it was. Hey, I can go buy more groceries anytime!...See MoreConsidering swapping equipment for Intelliflo?
Comments (28)repair guy, You are correct. Under the rebate offered by SCE and PG&E a controller of some sort must be used to control the pumps such as 2 speed pumps and the 4x160 VS 3050. The IntelliFlo VF 3050 has a built in timer and does not require a controller. Issue is: if a customer has an existing automatic controller like a jandy or Polaris system and not a EZ Touch or IntelliTouch an Intellicom must be purchased to communicate with other mfg.'s controllers. One point of contention with 4 speeds not saving money verses 2 speeds and other pumps. The 4 speed by desigh saves money on energy no matter what speed it is running on when compared to other pumps. This is due to a combination of the motor and magnets. For example you can have a 1 HP EE efficient single speed or two speed pump, plumbed perfectly, with 45's instead of 90's, 2.5 inch plumbing to the point of putting your foot on the motor to make sure it is running. Put a flow meter and amp meter on this pump - replace with a 4 speed with one speed set at the same GPM as the 1 HP and you will see the amp draw being 30-40% less. Comments (31)Hi James, sorry missed your comment. Still good after almost 2 years. I didn't really "turn the corner". My cable runs are all separate (each run starts with a stop and ends with an eye bolt). My corners are 2 posts welded to a large bottom plate. I'll post a pic when i get a chance. If I did it again: supported top rail (wood is now wavy, but only noticeable when eyeing down the rail), lighter duty eye bolts, and I need a support tube at the top of my corner posts (as is, I only tensionned my cables to a few pounds, to get them tighter I need to add a tube between the posts)....See Morejjam
