Anyone Have/or Have Ideas For Moveable Window Seats?
Comments (3)I have something similar. Under 2 windows at one end of our sunroom we have a low bookshelf that my DH built to house my cookbooks. It is only 18" high and the top is just under the sill moulding of the window trim. It's 84" long and 16 inches deep. There is one bracer board in the center that keeps it sturdy. I asked him to just make it like he would a bench only add a shelf to the bottom. The shelf sits up off the floor high enough that I can get the vac under it and the back is open. The top is usually covered w/ current reading materials and our birdwatching binocs. We have a couple of chairs in this corner where we like to sit, read and watch the birds at the feeders. I like having all my cookbooks in a comfortable place sit and look through. This bookcase/bench gets used as a seat when we have lots of folks over. The sunroom is just off the kitchen & is where everyone likes to hang out. When I know we'll need or want to be using it as seating I have some cushions that I add. It works for us and now my SIL wants him to build the same thing for her sunroom, too! She likes that it can be used as more than just a plain bench cause it has the shelf underneath....See Morechristmas candles in windows
Comments (1)There is some stuff called earthquake putty. You can find it where they sell the felt pads or things for hanging pictures. Even the stuff that people use to put up posters without tape. It's just a putty you knead and the put a blob under the item you don't want to move around. I would get the white painters tape if your woodwork is white and basically tape the cords along the window ledge. Dark tape if the woodwork is dark. That way you can peel it off easier. I know someone was mentioning something which peels easier than the blue tape, but I don't remember. I've had really good luck with the white tape pulling of easily after several weeks. Comments (84)Sorry to see this so long after it posted. About 20 years ago, in Oklahoma, my husband and I tried selling tilt/ turn windows. Our company was called Eurowindows & Doors and we installed them throughout our house - totally outfitted - when we lived in Edmond. Our front door what the traditional pin- security German door. We attended trade shows and made an earnest go of it, but I believe we were ahead of our time, particularly for Oklahoma. See, as an Army brat, I'd lived about a cumulative 13 years of my life in Germany and REALLY missed those windows. We've since moved and left the window business behind, but I still love them and see that they're still pretty pricey and upscale. Still, I'm looking, too, to install them again into my future forever house. They're the best! Good luck!...See MoreSuggestions for battery operated window candles
Comments (18)I bought some of these this year to secure candles in the window. They are called window locks. They are a thick but flexible plastic that slips over the candle, then then you place the tab part under the window as you lower it. I tried one out when it arrived and I think it will work great and not really show much either. Here is a link that might be useful: Candle Locks...See Moretexashottie
