Check this out for your widescreen

This morning I had popped into a store by "accident" and I saw the neatest thing. Look at plasmawindow.com and they have DVD's that show artwork, aquariums, nature scenes or a crackling fire in the fire place that essentially make your TV into a piece or art or groovy cool or calming thing. I think I'll get one for the holidays when I have Xmas dinner for 12, it will sure beat a ball game!!

For example the aquarium says you can have it with the sounds of an aquarium or with music and it has multiple fish scenes to choose from.

I just pulled up the sample with music and everything. I am definately getting one of these. Only about $20 or less.

Don't tv's only have so many hours on them? What about image burning - wouldn't that be a problem too?

I had a turtle but I only saw it once-it was probably 1/2 foot in diameter-what a treat. Something jumped into the water today as I checked things out-who knows what it was.

Hi I boil the peat to help reduce the tannins ,sterilize it and allow it to accept water.. In this case I was potting up some submerged aquatic plants and had it left over. if you don't boil it it floats lol Any body growing any of the rat tail types of the epi cactus?? The ones with the spines??. I finally got some cuttings to grow but boy are they susceptible to rot. Have been using crushed lava rock with them but still get some rot from all the rain.. They have the most fantastic flowers but not for me lol gary

Beautiful golds, I love them. Does anyone have any idea how these golds turn out when they mature; I have 2-3 year-old specimens of... MR. WATSON RICH UNCLE MIKI (maybe not so gold)? BANANA MUFFINS GOLDEN FRIENDSHIP Anybody else have any of these? Out of all these golds, only my 'Mr. Watson' is even remotely close to having some mature looks, and as of last summer, was quickly becoming a favorite. as long as the image on the screen scrolls/changes, the image shouldn't get burned in. That's why the CD/Sirius music stations on the TV have the title of the song scroll up the screen. You wouldn't want a still picture up there all the time.

My thinking was the background would be staying the same with aquariums.

there are computer screen savers with the aquariums and sounds so it must be ok....

I love to pop in a music dvd instead of watching tv; I have Sade in concert, Annie Lennox in Central Park, I read while they are on as a background.

You can set a DVD player to loop or replay a DVD indefinitely.

A while back someone posted a picture of their unused fireplace with their widescreen TV in it. One of the fire DVDs would be perfect for that.

As for screen burn in, I don't think it is that much of a problem with modern video screens. Besides, that was a problem with static DOS text display left on for months and years - how often would you leave one of these DVDs running for more than a few hours?

It wouldn't cause burn in but allison is right that the new tvs having a limited life of hours. I wouldn't waste the hours and electricity for this.

Yes it loops,,no it's not a still picture,,I saw the aquarium in person. The fireplace flames/logs are flickering and crackling. I'm just saying for a dinner party or something when you don't want your black screen looking like a beacon of darkness and you can't cover it up, that this is neat. There is more than one DVD for those who like different things. Just something interesting.
