Pottery Barn Eva Wool Rug
Comments (18)I don't personally own this rug. However, I too was attracted by the beautiful colors in the PB catalog so we drove up to the PB outlet store where they had the 10x14 rug on sale (for 50% off I might add). The colors were NOT anything like the catalog enhanced photos. Very drab. The blue was almost gray. The red was rust. The gold was blech tan. And the green was move of a washed out olive green. We were extremely disappointed and left empty handed, despite the "cheap" price. We did also notice that they had one of each size marked down, half off. Apparently it's not been a big seller and I'm guessing the deceptive catalog colors are the answer....See MoreDoes anyone have Pottery Barn Cecilia Rug
Comments (3)Tuesday, While I was out today, I stopped at Pottery Barn to take a look at your rug. It was pretty but there was no black in it, at all. Just the brown that you saw. Sorry....See MorePottery Barn Wool Rugs...Opinions, please?
Comments (27)If you see a backing on the rug (as opposed to seeing the weave and pattern on the underside) then it has adhesive. The back of the rug is coated with adhesive and the backing is glued to it. That is what you smell. The latex adhesive deteriorates over time (avoid sunlight, this makes it worse). I read one comment about using an iron for creases - if the rug has an adhesive this will melt the adhesive and cause staining and smells. The first 3 days are worst for new rigs with an adhesive, but VOCs can off-gas for years. Recently, PB has started using a manufacturer that uses "synthetic latex" adhesive to combat this deterioration, and latex allergies. They claim it doesn't break down but I don't have long-term experience to know how it performs. It theoretically should have low VOCs and minimize smell issues. I'm curious if anyone has experience with their rigs made of recycled water bottles. They are more affordable and are surprisingly soft....See MorePottery Barn Kala Printed Rug Dupe
Comments (7)I didn't find anything really similar, and looked for a long time. PB didn't carry the actual rug at our local store but had a small sample that was maybe 5" square. The sample had numerous pulls and just looked and felt very fragile for a wool rug. I could tell it wouldn't stand up to kids and cats without taking a beating, and didn't want the headache of having to regularly trim pulled rug fibers. If you don't have kids or pets and are very gentle on things it would probably be fine, but it was nothing like the tough-as-nails antique wool rugs we love. I looked at overdyed rugs on eBay for a long time, but they were all too purple, too dark, or too something that wasn't quite right. After trying 3 rugs that didn't work out (not blue which had been our first choice), we finally-- just a few weeks ago-- found a mostly-blue rug we love that was a great price ($195) at Overstock and is soft and durable, though it's not wool. It's a printed design in a traditional rug pattern, but is surprisingly nice looking for being printed rather than knotted. I'm not sure if it would work in your space because it's not as neutral as the Kala rug, but this is what we ended up with: Loloi Loren LQ-10 Blue/Red rug. It goes by different names (and prices) on different sites. At Urban Outfitters, it's $529 for the exact same 7.5' x 9.5' rug they call the "Winnie Printed Rug." The cheapest price we found was at Overstock, where it's called the "Alexander Home Tremezzina Printed Boho Iron-Rod Distressed Rug." The blue in it is very similar to that of Kala rug, but it obviously has a lot of red as well and other colors (gold, brown, cream, pink). There are some other Loloi rugs with a blue field that aren't quite as colorful that I think are also pretty, such as the LQ-01. Hope you find one you love and that it doesn't take you 9 months to find it ;)...See Moretuesday_2008
