I don't know purses but my DIL loves them and she would really love that one. Lots of "bling"...so is it a purse or a wall hanging or both ?? I am not up on this at all...can ya tell ? c

It's a purse, and I will be using it as a purse, but it can look pretty on a hook when I don't need it. All in fun,of course. I try to have fun with decorating, and right now I think we could all use a little humor.

Does it make you happy? I don't personally care for it but I like landscapes mostly ....

Hey, I consider my Mexican-made purses, concho belts, Navajo jewelry, and cowgirl boots to be decorative accents and I display them in my bedroom and bathroom! I love your purse -- it's fun and blingy, and if you enjoy looking at it every day, then why the heck not!

I think it's a cool purse, and as someone who has LOTS of handbags how could I not like it? But, while I am definitely into unusual "art" objects (I have an abalone shell hanging alone on a wall and love it) the purse is too current for me to appreciate it as a piece of art. If it were old and something not ever used, I might like it. However, if you like it, that is the only thing that matters! Who cares if I like it? It does not fall into the category of "Your picture is too small over the sofa". This a a personal decorating decision and it must speak to you.

Now, why'd ya have to go and say that? I hadn't even thought of it -- but y'know, the black pair has all this fancy stitching on it, and would be cool painted up! (The other pair is red, and they're colorful just as they are.) Is it even possible to paint on leather in a way that it'd look good? Hmmmmmmmm ...

It's fun, it's changable, and it's functional - what else could you want? If a little thing like that makes you a happy girl, enjoy!

I used to have my grandmothers old beaded and metal evening bags on a wall in my bedrom. I thought it was cool and essentially art. My DH would occasionally make some forked tongue remark about my 'purse collection' and I eventually got tired of hearing it so I took them down. However, that was the LAST time I allowed him to have any decorating input! Maybe they'll go back up one of these days!

Jen if you wear the boots, I think the only way you'll get paint to stick is to scuff/sand off the smooth leather in the patterned areas and then paint. Otherwise I'd think it would crack with wearing because it would just sit on top. But if they aren't for wearing - just paint 'em!

My current purse cost more than almost every piece of art in my house-- so I may as well hang it on the wall :)

I love it as a decorative piece and all the colors (and shapes) look beautiful together.

It's getting late in the year here, but it has been warm up until the past few days. I was shopping in Chico's one day this past week and the lady who was helping me mentioned how much she loved my "STRAW Brighton bag..." She did emphasize "straw" as if to say (hey, it's way past Labor Day) and I know, I know, but it is just one more chore that I HATE doing every season, so she called it to my attention that I needed to change bags which I was going to do anyway. I think moreover she was hoping I would buy a bag from her but instead, I took the (defeatist) or (elitist) attitude (you choose which), after gently reminding her (as she had already mentioned that Brighton bags are so durable), that I already have a Fall Brighton and will go immediately home and change out and thanked her for the reminder but said "no thanks" to the bag she so gently admonished me to purchase.

I picked up the things I had planned to purchase, paid and went my merry way.

Then I came here and saw the "bag" as art and placed my empty STRAW bag on a hook as art in my kitchen and my leather (FALL) one right next to it. Thanks for the idea.

So you decide, defeatist or elitist. I just thought it was tacky to remind a customer (out of hope to make a sale) that she needs to swap to a more seasonable bag out of the hope to sell one to said customer.

Does anyone remember the episode of "Designing Women" in which Julia and the other women were at an art gallery's show and she puts her purse on a tall table to rest on (maybe when she gets a glass of wine)? Somebody walks by and tells her that her creation is a work of art! He/she/they offer her an atrocious amount of money for the piece of "art" and Julia becomes a sensation in the local art world.

This is what immediately came to mind when I saw this posting! Hey--if it looks beautiful to you, it IS art! This could become a trend: I have seen photos (probably of celebrities in InStyle magazine, this is something their huge homes always have room for!) of a lineup of purses hung on the wall like that.

Each year our rose club has a Christmas swap. Each one brings something that she would like to have and gifts are swapped similar to white elephant but all wrapped very nicely. One person is set up to bring a really bad gift. Of course, everyone tries to avoid it like the plague. One of our members travels frequently and had found a beautiful bag in a Paris shop which looked like the most luscious wrapped gift. She really should not have brought it to the Christmas swap! LOL. When she made her way to the restroom, someone chose her "purse" (gift wrap) as one of the prizes. When she returned she found her purse at another table. In fact, it was the biggest laugh of the party since she had so carefully chosen a purse that looked like a gift and someone had chosen it (which ultimately was returned to its right owner) as the choice gift and that story is not quite as funny unless you knew the owner of the bag, who is almost a clone of Suzanne (from Designing Women) and yes, that episode was brought up at the Christmas party.
