What kind of art do you have in your bedroom?
Comments (31)Thank you everyone for sharing. Natal, I love that nude (well, semi-nude). I found an impressionist style print of a European cityscape that I liked, but it wasn't framed, and I think after framing it'd be too big for our room. I also have a metal leaf sculpture I like. I had it over the mantel in the LR, but moved it for the holidays to our bedroom. I liked it, but it seemed too much with the headboard. Lil Home, I have some art like you have on your bed. Only I have it in black and seal point. Well, now at least, I feel like I can hang any art in there. I will just have to go hunt for something! I found an adorable watercolor of a bunny on Etsy. I'm leaning toward that, it's DH nickname, and we have kissing bunny figurines in our room. VERY kitschy, but it's our private space and it means something to us....See MoreHelp with art for master bedroom
Comments (11)Les - One of the things I like about the baker's rack in its current position is that I feel it balances the door to the bathroom. Before the piano came into our lives, my plan was to buy a linen press or other large piece for that spot. The chairs are probably in the only location that works. The door to the bedroom is directly opposite the wooden dresser. If the chairs are any closer to the fireplace, they're in the traffic pattern to the bathroom and closet, which is off the bathroom. There was supposed to be a bit more space there, but due to a miscommunication on my part, the contractor and I weren't on the same page. (The master suite s a recent addition to my 1950s ranch.) I love the bedding too. Thank you! It's made according to the whim of whoever makes the bed! Sometimes it lower. Sometimes it's not. As long as the bed gets made daily, I'm happy! That picture was snapped on day one. The curtains are pulled out to expose more of the windows now! The picture of DH's grandmother's brownstone isn't large enough to go over the fireplace. I had originally thought that the painting over the fireplace would go over the bed, but we had the area over the fireplace wired for TV, and I had to cover that up! Maybe I'll have to cave an buy a TV for over the fireplace and move the other painting. At least TVs are less expensive than art! I just don't like them in bedrooms. Sigh....See MorePlease show me your art gallery walls
Comments (2)Although we collect a lot of art, I tend to have it hung throughout our home, and only have a few spots where more than three pieces are hung together. This is one area in our living room. I've hung and propped Western paintings along with framed photos of DH's side of the family, as they are/were Westerners, including ranchers, cowboys, genteel schoolmarms and Native American. I think that adding the other Western and antique books and pieces on the bookcase there keeps that energy going. The other two areas aren't painting and prints, but part of my cross collection and a large grouping of family photos (which I FINALLY have reframed and rehung after 14 years of grousing about them) Lynn...See MorePlease show me your oriental rugs in your bedroom
Comments (8)This thread is so timely, Bonnie Ann, as I'm in the process of redoing our MBR right now. Our bedside rugs are in dire need of replacement. So is our comforter and shams, but they're next. I have brick floors and Middle Eastern rugs throughout our entire house. And under-the-floor hot water radiant heat. And two dogs. I'm vacuuming the rugs constantly, but it is what it is, as I love my dogs. I've had Oriental rugs on either side of our bed in the past, but the dogs were hard on them and I replaced them with 2.5' x 4" needlepoint runners about 5 years ago. I actually wash them in my washer on delicate, which probably has added to their demise (LOL). Between the dogs, having patios that we use a lot on two sides of our bedroom, and the fact that we live in the mountains and probably track in more dirt than most people in other places do, our current bedroom rugs are pretty well trashed by now. So, I've been looking at the pics here trying to decide where to go next. We have beautiful queen-size bed, but it seems like such a costly waste to buy such a large rug, only to cover up most of it with our bed. And after a variety of rugs over the years in our MBR, I like the idea of being able to wash them, something not easily done with Orientals, although they are so beautiful. But, thanks to this timely thread, I've finally decided on rugs to buy. I found really soft indoor (that can also be outdoor ) 2.5' x 4' runners on Wayfair, in a muted tan and cream print. They've gotten lots of great reviews because they are soft and pet-friendly. And so, I've just now ordered two of them, and they should get here a week from today. Don't you just love this site and all the ideas you get here? Thanks, Bonnie Ann!...See Moreyeonassky
