Finished Laundry Room - Update

After four years of living with the yucking job my builder did with the laundry room - we finally finished it the way we wanted. The tile is scabos travertine, the cabinet paint is EK Tulip Leaves, the wall paint is SW retrained gold.

Thanks for all the help along the way!

The "before" looked good, but the "after" is outstanding! Great job! The colors and textures are so beautiful. You must be loving that space!

So much great advice (and no judgement - thank you!) — I wanted to update, we’ve confirmed it’s only shellac! Thankfully, and we’ll be working on removing as much as possible tomorrow, with heat off and windows open. Pics below, including my husband cleaning his mess lol. Great tips on the floor - you’re points are right on, and given the work the walls will be I’d like an easier alternative for the floors for sure. The left window is actually a door that a previous owner caulked shut, but we’re planning to open and make functional again. Otherwise there isn’t much room for anything, but it would be ideal to move the sink elsewhere to have more wiggle room in the “bathroom”. We did take a quick look today at more narrow utility sink/ vanity combos, and while not perfect should be an improvement. At this point it feels that is still quite far in the future, but hopeful the shellac removal is quicker than I anticipate. Once again THANK YOU, I have been so delighted to find such a knowledgeable (and patient) community!!!

It sounds like the best solution would be to buy a brand that will fit under the window. It would be more convenient to have them side by side and facing the same way. You could also get a window blind with bottom up capability if the new machines are too tall, so you wouldn't see it from the outside.

Very nice, the space even allows for front loading pedestal units for you or future home owner. I like the wall and floor tile selection. Since my laundry room moved up from the basement to off the kitchen I like doing laundry. So what if I don't have room for ironing board, sink and goobs of bins...

Two of those LED fixtures would provide nice bright light for removing stains and sorting clothes by color. Pendants would gather laundry lint. You can also buy LED tube-shaped bulbs that pop into existing fluorescent fixtures. As for the backpacks, try a few inexpensive cubes first. If this is not their natural dumping ground next to the back door, then chances are good that the backpacks aren't going to go there. You could think about a row of hooks or a sturdy clothes rod for hanging things directly from the dryer.

You must go around begging your family to give you their dirty clothes so you can go into your BEAUTIFUL laundry room. WOW...that is just so warm and pretty. c

Wow. I love that look. Is your trim just 1X4's stained? Do you happen to know the color of the stain? I'm planning a small ranch style home, and I have thought about using trim like that. I like it!

CCinTX - Yes just 1x4 pine. The stain is MW Chestnut.
