Taupe would be nice, but you will have to be careful to balance the taupe undertones with the grey trim, and also the pinkish tones in the brick.

Personally, I would go with a warmer taupe for the house, paint out the trim the color of the windows (is that a bronze?) and change the shutters to a brown/black, or a deeper rusty red-brown color that matches the brick.

I would also paint out the center areas of the panels above the windows and door on the first level the same as the trim color, or perhaps the rusty red of the shutters if you go that route.

And finally, take out that one lonely bush in the front of the entry. :-)

Would it be possible to get a "farther back" photo of the house which includes the roof? That would help us get a better color sense...

I love the colors you have now--slightly unusual and classy. How fortunate you are to have a window trim edge that is dark and emphasizes the depth of the trim color. Love it-looks great with your brick--don't change.

Does the house NEED to be painted. I like the colors on there as is. Maybe just brighten up the door with a red or something. I would buy it as is.

Yes, inspection apparently showed some areas that need painting, and there is rotting in a few places so they have to change those areas out.

Sherwin Williams puts out a color named Artistic Tan which is a taupy tan but nice and warm. It would be a great contrast with the brick as it has a teeny weeny tinge of green when the sun isn't out and that would compliment the brick so well. I'd like to see the shutters painted the deepest shade on the same strip as Artistic Tan. If it were me, I'd then paint the front door a gorgeous robins egg blue and put a nice natural twig wreath on it.
The house would look much more friendly than it does now, warmer colors do that.

Yayagal, sounds nice. What style is this house anyway?

It seems as if the paint is well adhered, so a change of color would be be an aesthetic change.

I think the colors are muted and the house would benefit with stronger versions of the same colors.
