Found a Great Headboard at the Goodwill

My DH and I have been looking to purchase a new headboard and nightstands. We've looked at the furniture stores but alas either it was a great headboard with bad nightstands, or awesome nightstands with a bad headboard.

So were at the local Goodwill and I found a $12.50 headboard that works perfectly! We had been debating at the furniture stores whether to get a king or queen (we had queen already)so we figured if nothing else this new king headboard will help us make the decision.

We had to improvise with our queen and turn it sideways but once we got it in place it was perfect. I just saved us several hundred dollars. I suppose those $$ will go for the new king mattress and bedding. Another's trash is another's treasure.

One of my favorite websites is Goodwill's. It's crazy what you can find on there. I've been shopping them & Salvation Army for many years, & I can tell you that most of my favorite things are finds from there. There are still clothes that I wear from there too.

The added benfit is that the purchases benefit the community.

Congrats on your find!!! If this is your first treasure from there, I guarantee you it won't be your last!!!

LOL! I love the broken chair "cat holder" but honestly... what ISN'T a cat holder? :) My whole house and everything in it is a cat holder. But back to the garden junk... I have a couple old drawers that I've used for planters too, they were used in the basement workshop area by the previous owner of the house. I needed a planter and used what was available! How about cutting a piece of MDF (or something similar) sized to fit inside the frame. Wrap batting over the MDF and staple (using short staples) in back. Cover with a piece of fabric that works well with your bedroom decor, stapling at back. You can even paint the frame first if you choose. I'd recommend mounting it directly to the wall with a few screws over hanging it. Lynn

find a local cabinet maker and have them custom make one for you that would be a very easy project and likely not very expensive, or if you know some one handy with wood they could do one. Headboards are pretty easy to make. I had one as a child but I did not like it because it was painful to try to sit in bed and read with that bookcase digging into my back even with a pillow.
