In home Hair Salon- pick paint colors

I am putting a Salon in the basement of my home. I have decided I want to paint the salon area SW Sea Salt or Rainwashed. The rest of my basement, which will mostly be a playroom is sort of open to it. I can paint the whole thing Sea Salt (or Rainwashed), but I don't really want to because I would like the paint to visually seperate the two spaces. Problem is I can not figure out what other color to do that will compliment Sea Salt (or Rainwashed), being that they are open to eachother. I was leaning towards a taupe or coffee color. Looking for some suggestions for that or another color all together to go with it Sea Salt/Rainwashed.

Here is what you see looking out in the rest of basement from salon. Sea Salt (or Rainwashed) would be at the door, door side of half walls, and into the salon work area (previous pic)

Salon station and most of cabinets/storage space will be black. Here is shampoo sink/chair that will go on right side of first picture.

I think I like Rainwashed better, but then again, have heard one is not supposed to put green tones where you put on makeup or get ready. It is not supposed to be as flattering.
They look very similar so you can't go wrong with either one!

Thanks. I may have made the post longer and more confusing than it needed to be. I am hoping to get suggestions for another color to go in the non-salon part of the basement. One that will compliment or contrast with Sea Salt/Rainwashed, whichever I pick (leaning towards Sea SAlt).

I love the salon that I've been going to since DH & I moved to the county we live in (over 20 yrs). The owner does my cuts, and I have had a few different stylists over the years that apply my color. I've found that the best thing you can do is to take pics of what you like, or want done to your hair (both color and/or haircut style). You can find lots of pics from all sorts of magazines, they don't have to be "hair style" magazines per se. You may see a cut or color that you like in any magazine. The internet is another good source for images or the internet to give your stylist(s) something to work from. My idea of what I want isn't always easy to explain. I have a couple of pages of copy paper with pics stapled to them that I keep at the salon. When I go in for an appointment, the gal at the front desk gets them out for me. When I want to change something with regard to my cut or color, I print a few pics to take with me. That way there is no way that what I "think" I want being lost in translation. Have to say this has been the single best thing I've done to improve getting what I want. There have been times when I've taken in a picture and my colorist or stylist will reel me in with the reality of changing to that particular style. They explain why they feel that the something I see that I want may not work for either my hair texture or shape of my face. Luckily, the people I work with at the salon have a pretty good idea of what I will or won't like, or will or won't be able to deal with on a daily basis:).

Amysrq you are right my inspiration photo is a lot darker. Mouse's Back in my kitchen looks like baby poo. I love the color though but, not in that room with that light. Hardwick White was pretty close too in my kitchen but, it went really khaki green and I was thinking it wouldn't blend with the Blue so I went down the lighter color path. I have seen that kitchen picture everywhere on almost every blog I read. Everyone loves that kitchen I think because it represents a "real" kitchen makeover that we all can relate too. Because no matter how much I want my kitchen to look like the hundreds of inspiration pics I have, unless I start over and have tons of money, it won't ever be. But that pic gives you encouragement that you can make over existing not so special cabinets and make them look fabulous. Thanks for the encouragement. You are right all the F&B colors are beautiful. I'm in love with that paint. I just painted my dining room walls, crown and base boards with Light Blue and it is gourgeous. The kitchen connects to it and that is why I pulled the light blue into the island. If you have any other suggestions throw them my way since it sounds like you are a fellow F&B fan. I have most every color in a sample pot. And I don't feel one bit guilty about it because I have been using them to paint furniture with.

I had my hair highlighted for about ten years, but I found that to be too expensive after it got up to around $200 or more each trip. I tried to do it myself a few years back and accidentally bleached it white (which I found hilarious). I was letting it grow out and the ladies in the salon would ask to be allowed to fix it and of course, they would lighten all of my hair back to the same point which drove me nuts so I took the plunge and lived with the line until I could cut it all off. I found out my natural hair color had turned almost a light brown after being darker blonde. I'm getting a little grey coming in now, but I'm hoping it will blend ok. I'm not coloring it myself.

out of those 2 colors, i would choose the sea salt for the salon portion-very pretty color!
for the non-salon portion, i would go with a coffee color or a beigey gray-something like bm revere pewter or bm sandy hook gray... i would worry about a taupe being too pinky in a basement, esp next to the sea salt....

I chose SW Sea Salt for our bathroom and it's an amazing color to be surrounded in. It's matched up with slate that is in browns and dark gray colors and they offer a nice contrast. I think a toasted almond or brown with a tinge of orange in it would be pretty. Here is a picture of it with the browns. Sorry about the pic, the lighting in this room makes it hard to photo without a lot of reflections. I know on the card it looks like a green based gray, but it changes depending on lighting and what's matched with it. Often times, it can look blue as you can see in the 2nd picture.

I may be boring, but I'd go down the color strip 2 steps for the other area. It would flow and be less choppy than a full color change yet still visually interesting.

My salon before i moved to a new location was sea salt and my trim was portabella. Everyone completmented the colors and said they were very relaxing and spa like.
