What color is your stone?

The paint is all SW/Duron:

siding - Quiver Tan
trim - Nomadic Deser
shutters - Roycroft Bronze Green

southernfrenchie, I can't see your pic (says has moved or is deleted). My stone is Owens-Corning - I think it's Country Ledgestone - Bucks County. The pic of BC on the website looks very gray - mine isn't. Stone is tans, beiges with khaki green and deep maroon, maybe a touch of silver/gray and gold. My foundation is gray stucco (mistake by mason - supposed to be neutral). Trying to find exterior paint colors. I am going to look yours up because they sound beautiful!!! Would love to see your picture...

Your stone is GORGEOUS!

I posted a photo of it earlier and then felt weird about it so I deleted it. Here it is:

As you can see our stone is definitely more of a caramel color. There are several homes in our neighborhood that have a similar stone to yours. I have seen some neat combinations on those:

coffee/tan siding with maroon shutters
pale grey siding with cranberry shutters

We moved up here to the Carolinas from TX - where all the homes are brick. I have never picked paint for siding and shutters in my life! Our builder had a binder with color palettes, but it was still overwhelming. I told them to just give me what was on the model - and we love it!

Your home is so beautiful! I love all the stone work on the facade and along the foundation. It seems to be very popular and it looks sharp. The colors are perfect - I was going to ask how you made a decision. I've been going crazy with color sample pots and quarts.

It's funny you mention the color combos you've seen because that's exactly where I've been headed. I keep returning to a brown/gray or green/gray color for the main body of the house (ours is cedar shingles). I have a very small home (1300 sq ft) so it looks like about the size of your garage!

The paint store owner suggested I not get a color that competes with the stone and that the stone should be the focal point. My stone is on the walls that line the driveway (garage under house) and on the chimney.

They are from Dutch Quality

Here's my stone porch...but we have vinyl siding. I believe our siding is Certainteed Maple. Our stone is also Owen's Corning, Bucks County color.

Choosing the right color for exteriors is an important task. While you spend lots of bucks in the interior decoration, exteriors often get ignored. Remember that exterior of your house will be the first thing that is visible to the guests, from a distance and from your yard as well. If you want some pictures to show it, you can browse any of those and select your favorite one.

arapaho - thanks for your kind words! I am sure your home will be beautiful. You picked a such a rich and versatile stone... Part of the frustration is you can go in so many directions with it! If it weren't for those builders' palettes I don't know what I would have done. For us, picking the exterior was the most difficult selection for the house. BTW, bigger square footage just means the mess gets spread over a larger area. Just ask my 5 kids! ; )

Oh wow! I love all of your homes! The cultured stone is beautiful and adds such rich texture and color! Up close, does it look just like the real thing? It does from the pictures.

pricklypear - I think it looks like the real thing. DH thought it was the real thing until I showed him one stone on the garage side that was cracked. Only then did he realize it was a conglomerate of pebbles and painted concrete.

srg215 - that is beautiful! Does your stone have some dark maroon tones in it because I think we have the same stone. I just think yours looks so different than mine and I like it much better. Just gorgeous!

pricklypear - I think it looks real too. I think it requires a lot less labor than installing natural stone.

Srg215 - love your stuff. What percentage is ledgestone and what is feildstone?
