I'm with Palimpsest about the trim and the doors - same color as the walls. It's a very sleek, sophisticated look in the same vein as your wonderful materials, and will quiet the whole business down visually so that those materials will show to best advantage. I'd also use the same finish on everything, with a soft sheen - B Moore's Pearl finish comes to mind. Modern lower lustre finishes in high-quality paints stand up to bathrooms better than they used to. And I'd shade the paint a little deeper than the biscuit, but with the same tone, so it will stand up to your finishes and offer a little contrast to the pale biscuit. Not so deep as Powell Buff, but perhaps something like Sherwin Williams's Antique White SW 6119 or Navajo White SW 6126, or B Moore's Cameo White or Bone White?

I like the green one. Looks like light shade of Celadon from here and I love that color. I think it works better with your other colors and I like the shape. However I also love green so maybe I'm biased. I too would wait until all your sure things are installed and then decide. I'd pick one tile and skip accent tiles. I think they look dated, but that's JMO of course. Can't wait to see your completed kitchen. Like the coconut. May I ask who's doing your cabs? Thanks.

When we picked out paint colors, we went through several phases: We took pictures of the colors we had to the paint store and held up swatches to them to get a subset of colors we wanted. This got us to about 10 colors per room. Then we went online to the paint's web site, where they had a room simulator that you could populate with colors. This got us down to about 3 colors per room. We then bought sample jars of all our colors, and painted 3' x 4' sheets of posterboard (primed it first) and took turns proping them up on the wall (with 1" strips of trim color) so we could see what it looked like in the actual lighting at that location. That got us down to the final colors, and we are very happy with the results. (Though there were some surprises. Remember that if you have lots of natural light, it is going to pick up the color of everything it hits, and reflect that color onto every other surface. When the sunset hits the floor to ceiling window of the light yellow 5' by 5' mud room, the entire room and the hall outside it is flooded with an intense yellow light. The result is a room that looks 5 shades deeper than the surrounding walls.)

"We've had a few landscape designers come out to give us ideas, but most of them want to over-plant and turn the place into a forest." There is pressure in the industry to go in this direction and it comes from everywhere: the client, the boss, the contractors. Everybody wants to squeeze more plants in if they can. Part of this is impatience. Everyone wants quick or instant results. Part of it comes from the urge to sell product. And part of it comes from peer pressure; a designer may not feel like they're "doing enough" professionally if they aren't providing the fullest look. I felt this in my early days of work and it took a long time to resist. It's a nice looking, good sized house, but the walk to the front porch is seriously undersized relative to everything else. Unfortunately, it cheapens the look of everything else. The walk and the step should be the width (or nearly) of the opening between the porch posts. Due to the grade, it would probably require installing a small retaining wall. (There really ought to be a retaining wall there now. I can picture maintenance difficulty and erosion problems on the way.) If you ever decide to fix it, I would explore the idea of eliminating one step, by tilting the walk slightly upward as it approaches the porch. (The picture doesn't indicate if this is feasible.) IMO, there is not enough shown in the pictures to give much feedback on planting. From the overall front, it looks like you could use some large trees off the corner of the house, but neither of these areas can be seen well. Nor can the complete foundation planting area be seen. (We only see the central part from a hard angle.) My picture is not a comprehensive look, but is only addressing the walk issue.
