Jeff, Based on what you have said about your piping including fittings the total length of pipe is 34 or 35 ft. This does not include any fittings to connect on to the SC or the valve and tee. So I would guess that your finial plumbing you end up about 45 ft of pipe with all the fittings included. Assuming everything is 3" pipe then at 1500 gph the drop in your first SC will be about 1". The water in the pipe will be moving at a rate of 68 ft per min or .78 mph. This is fast enough to carry lighter debri up the 45 degree incline but the heavier debri will fall out of the water column. When flushing the pipe as above the flow will be at a much higher rate depending on how much below pond level the pipe exits into the SC will determine how fast that water will move. The second question is does the SC have enough volume so that once the water in the pipe is moving quicker can that debri make it out of the pipe before the water slows down again? To determine all this I will need the size and dimensions of the SC, how far below pond level the top of the 3" pipe will go into the SC and how far below the top of the SC the top of the 3" pipe will be? Your second post you talk about emptying the pipe and refilling the pipe to flush the debri. This is probably not going to do more than flushing the pipe I talked about above. Mike

I go way back with Flipping Out.. Loved the banter with his ex Ryan. To bad it ended so poorly. There's something about Gage that just doesn't connect with me. I was feeling that the show had jumped the shark at that point. Jeff was actually quite funny on Property Envy. That dry wit and sarcasm. Can't wait to see pregnant Jenny (I know the baby is already born now). I'm so glad they have been able to work things out. It just wouldn't be the same without Jenny and Zoila.

Mine is an example of me perhaps being someone's worst date: My good friend and former roommate Jeff, had been dating a woman named Glenda who knew Stephanie through the horse world. All four of us happened to be at a party at the house of a woman, Lynn, who worked at the same place as Jeff and who also had horses. I remember having seen Stephanie at the party but being my usual shy, fearful self, I didn't interact with her. Reportedly after the party Glenda was talking with Stephanie who was complaining about not finding anyone she liked, and Glenda suggested that since I was at the party alone, that "Bob" might be interested and/or available. "Who's Bob" Stephanie responded. She emailed me shortly thereafter, introducing herself and after a short exchange asked whether I'd be interested in going to see Laurie Anderson in concert at the Wexner Center at the Ohio State University. I responded "I love Laurie Anderson, I have several of her albums. In fact I'm already going to that concert with Jeff, he has two tickets." She suggested that perhaps we could go out to dinner before the concert, and we decided upon Falafal House, a Middle Eastern restaurant at the south end of the Ohio State campus. We met at the restaurant, and she brought her roommate Jenny with her. The three of us ordered and chatted while waiting for the food to arrive. And chatted more during dinner. Finally, glancing at my watch, I said I have to hurry off to the concert, I don't want to be late. I said, "Bye, I had a great time." And I left. She and Jenny walked back to their apartment together while I went to meet my friend Jeff at the concert. Now anyone with even a bit of sense would probably ask, "What were you thinking?" "Why didn't you simply tell Jeff, 'Hey man I need your ticket' or tell him 'I have other plans' and just get two tickets yourself? My only response to that is: there were probably good reasons why I was single. I was painfully shy, emotionally immature, and terribly frightened of being rejected or looking foolish. I couldn't convince myself to ask someone out, and even the few times I did go out with someone I usually screwed it up somehow through my cluelessness. This time seemed it was going to turn out the same. While she and Jenny were walking home they were talking and between them they had just about decided that was it for me. Big red flag. Fortunately, Stephanie decided to give me another chance and emailed me the next day asking how the concert was.

I strongly suspect working for Jeff Lewis would be a nightmare; what makes for fun viewing would and could certainly be extremely stressful to deal with as an employee. OTOH, he does remind me of my own boss, with whom I've finally achieved a pretty decent working relationship. As I say about my guy, you can expect to get hit in the head with a board but not stabbed in the back....ie, a control freak boss who at least is (loudly) up front about his expectations is in my book easier to handle than someone who undercuts you and/or your work while never giving you the chance to fix what's wrong. In Jeff Lewis' business dealings, he makes his expectations pretty clear. Sarah was definitely coasting on her personal relationship with Jeff. The young intern (can't recall his name now) who was doing his own work on company time was also in the wrong. Andy is evidently a pathological liar for whom Jeff made a HUGE exception in not terminating his employment--and Andy seems to screw up on the job fairly frequently too. Contrast that with Vanina, the quiet intern(?) who seems to be doing fine working there. I suspect even with the hoopla about a lawsuit, Jenni has worked with and known Jeff so long that she not only is a trusted colleague and friend, but does a great job for his business. Ann
