Besides adding the new master bath, we're also gutting the main part of the house (kitchen, family room, living room, and dining room.) The walls around the kitchen won't be put back, and the wall between the the family room and living room will be moved a few feet and contain a double-sided gas fireplace. So....no vaulted ceilings anywhere else in the house after the remodel. I was hoping to have a chandelier over the tub. That might help feel like the ceiling height is brought down some. I have a feeling that the GC has already ordered the scissor trusses for the vault, so it might be too late to change. I couldn't reach him late today. On the other hand, maybe it will make the bathroom feel special if it's the only vaulted room in the house! Maybe??

Design is keyword here.” Austin Air Companie As this is so important, I usually advocate for removing it from the responsibility of the GC and have the home owner assume the task of sub contracting it out themselves – even if it means leaving their comfort zone to educate themselves on fundamentals of HVAC, including basic duct design, zoning, controls and overall energy efficiency. I regret the cathedral ceiling in our guest suite -- *not* cozy. (Love the one in our Library.) Thanks for posting the plans. I'm sorry, but I think this addition overpowers your existing house -- the height, the huge dormer that doesn't add space. (Where will you place your bed?) I can't understand the stipulation that the new addition's roof line can't exceed the existing...since it obviously *does*. The closet/bathroom section could be improved.

I've had good luck with Hunter fans in the past, and in our new house with Lowe's Harbor Breeze brand (Hanover model) which were on deep discount several years ago in builder's packs at 2 for around $75. At that price we were willing to take a chance, and the fans have been wonderful. Very quiet, efficient, and move air well. We live in Alberta and don't have air conditioning; fans are in the living room, dining/kitchen area, master bedroom, and back porch where we also eat. I don't like fans with lights, and since I consider fans more function than form, I like them to blend into the ceiling to avoid detracting/distracting from the ceiling fixtures, and so all of our ceiling fans are white. It works for our house.
