Gwen, you're welcome and I'm so glad you enjoyed the pictures I posted. I think those rooms are dreamy. One of the things I love about the more "modern" decorating is the two-toned curtains. Also, when doing shabby chic or cottage, there is a lot of mixing of fabrics. Since you sew, I'm wondering if you can buy the too-short curtains, cut a little off the bottom or top, lengthen the curtains, and use the cut off fabric in bed pillows or chair cushions along with whatever fabric you use to lengthen the curtains? I'm not sure if that woule work or not but it's something to think about. That said, white is always used a lot in cottage decor and shabby chic. Lovely white window treatments are easy to find. One of the prettiest I ever saw I think was carried by Pottery Barn and they were a thin semi-opaque cotton, maybe a batiste. Along the top they were smocked. They were just yummy. I have Orange Peel walls too and I wouldn't hesitate to try out the stamping. Just grab any paint you have around and stamp something on there pushing hard and see what you get. You can have a damp sponge in your other hand ready to scrub off whatever you did. Another thing about the shabby chic look is that it's rather chippy and broken looking, so if your stamp didn't do a perfect print it might add to the charm rather than subtracting from it. I'd give it a try if the idea appeals to you.

Just a quick update....the "Fly Home" canvas arrived yesterday - we love it! Had already decided it would not go in the bedroom. (Thanks, again, Perky, for photo help!) It's too big and colorful, etc. So, the Ballard Grand Bouquet plaque will be hung over our bed instead (as soon as it arrives - I love packages!) Instead, we moved a piece of existing artwork and put it in the master bath (where I intended the Ballard plaque to go), hung "Fly Home" in its place, and all is perfect. It looks like I actually knew what I was doing - ha. I was a little worried about the pinks in it, but they're very subtle, and they bring out the pink in some paintings I bought on vacation in Hilton Head (the first purchases I made for this house.) So it all worked out and life is good ......yea!

There are color people on here such as funcolors. But I don't know if it would look right if you sprayed it. How about looking on craiglists and buying a cheap bed and have the head board and foot board upholstered? I think Marilyn Monroe would like that, I bet your daughter would too in a white or even black or purple.

This was over our bed until a week ago. I made it before we acquired our sweet, little brown dog (who now sleeps with us) and it is a huge ordeal to keep it dust and fur free. I was also getting a little tired of all of the gathers & trim. The painting will stay and since I still like the fabric, I'll be re-doing the drapes on either side of the bed from "puddling" rod pockets to floor-length pinch pleats.
