That's an awesome looking headboard Mangomoon!! I absolutely love it. Yes put it in your gardens, it's going to look fantastic. Personally, I love the old country vintage look and wouldn't paint it. There are quite a few gardening mags out now that show pics of headboards in gardens and they look soooooooooo pretty. Check some of the mags out for ideas and flower designs. Sure hope you'll post pics of it when you have "planted" it in the ground and then "planted" your flowers. To keep it steady in the ground, either use concrete or when digging your hole and filling it back up, really pack the dirt and it should do alright. I just saw my neighbor's buddy who does fencing, just dig a few holes here and there along the fence on both sides between our yards (a huge stockade fence) and then he just really packed in more "good" dirt in the holes and that fence stood right up. I was pretty amazed how that's all he did and it fixed the leaning over problem. Have fun doing your garden project - remember, share, share, share those pics. Sal

Just a quick update....the "Fly Home" canvas arrived yesterday - we love it! Had already decided it would not go in the bedroom. (Thanks, again, Perky, for photo help!) It's too big and colorful, etc. So, the Ballard Grand Bouquet plaque will be hung over our bed instead (as soon as it arrives - I love packages!) Instead, we moved a piece of existing artwork and put it in the master bath (where I intended the Ballard plaque to go), hung "Fly Home" in its place, and all is perfect. It looks like I actually knew what I was doing - ha. I was a little worried about the pinks in it, but they're very subtle, and they bring out the pink in some paintings I bought on vacation in Hilton Head (the first purchases I made for this house.) So it all worked out and life is good ......yea!

I agree that espresso furniture is rather dated, and I can understand being tired of it. I'd suggest getting rid of the chest of drawers altogether and minimizing the amount of wood exposed. The bed itself isn't bad, is it making the room darker? If it's all white already, it sounds like you're already making it brighter. Perhaps a lighter colored area rug to lighten the floor as well. If you have nightstands that are dark too, maybe different ones in a contrasting color or shape would help.
