I just wonder what you guys think.. Long post i know...
My BF has two grown daughters. One is 26 and lives out of state, has a very well paid job etc. The other one is in college also out of town. Both of his daughters are treated like little girls (by him) even the one who is 26. But it is not my place to say anything, i am just describing the situation so you know what I am talking about.
Both ladies have trouble sticking to the plans, making plans, communicating their plans etc Their mother is the one who always set the rules, regulations and expected children to follow those. Both girls constantly change their plans, do not stick to commitments and sometimes lie to get what they want (especially when it comes to money). Their mom stands firm that if plans were made, she is not going to change her life around if they change their minds constantly.
MY BF however has trouble saying "no" to them that's why they usually stay with him when they visit because they can do whatever and get anything out of him.
Anyways here is Thanksgiving story.
Awhile ago both girls said they will spend TG with dad, stay in his house etc. He got excited and started planning. Then the older one called that tickets are expensive and she won't come (she makes a very very good money). BF suggested he pays for the ticket. She accepted.
He started making plans for TG etc. Then they both called that they changed their mind and will be with their BM for TG and stay at her house for the entire TG break because she got a new house and GPs are in town. He paid for the airplane tickets BTW.
He was upset but we changed our plans and decided to go to my aunt's house and have TG with all my family.
When his daughters got to town they decided they want a day before TG, and a day of TG to be with their dad, he said OK. We made all the plans again.
Then they called that they don't want to do that but would rather be at mom's during the day and then have TG with him. He said he has nothing for TG dinner plus he wants to be at GF's family and he already made plans for TG since it was orginal plan.
Then they called again and said that they will come after TG dinner to go to the movies with their dad.
Then they called again and said they don't want to sleep at mom's house and want to come to his house. He said he is staying with GF's family but will be home later. They asked him to be home not too late because they want to see him. I an my BF do not stay overnight in presence of our children, we don't find it comfortable.
We decided that after TG dinner he will just go to his hosue since girls are coming over and I go to my place.
We got to our homes and of course daughters weren't there and they did not call. He called them and they said they will show up in the morning. He was upset that we had to separate for no reason.
I have to work on master paper since I am finishing graduate school in a month so I cannot be with them next two days I am sitting at a computer screen. Now it is 12:30 PM here and daughters still did not show up at their dad but are shopping with mom.
Now to be clear they behaved this way always, when we first dated they did not even know about my existence and they did things like this. So they act this way not because of me and I appeared in a picture when parents were already divorced. Plus I am not a type of woman who demands too much attention, i am not attcahed to his hip at all.
I can bring hundreds of examples how they manipulate parents for money. Since parents do not talk to each other young women trick them both paying for something so they get double amount. The one who is 26 always asks for money and mom says "no" because daughters gets paid better than mom, but BF gives the money all the time. Anyways it is all not my buisness but it creates difficulty making any plans and frustrates BF.
Last spring older daughter invited her dad to visit her during Easter break and when he made all the arrangements including requesting vacation from work, she called that she goes to Florida with her BF that week. Luckily we still had some time to change plans so me and him went on vacation for a week, but I find it disrespctful to make plans and then change them on a short notice.
And I do worry that although at this point it does not effect my life much but in a long run if we stay together it will effect me and our relationship.
I wonder if they conciously manipulate parents or they are just this way?
