Guess how I got some crash glass...

What's one of the worst ways possible? DH's car was broken into in the parking lot of his office. They took the GPS, XM radio and some other technical contraptions. I really am sad for him. This is the third car to get hit in the last two months and he works in the best area possible. But that's another thread.

I did listen to the tale and offer the appropriate amount of compassion before I asked him if he could sweep up the glass for me. It looks really cool and DD is about to die over it. She LOVES glass. I am excited. Ever since I saw the crash glass fireplace I have had the fever. Now to decide exactly how to use it....

Well, the car is owned by his company so we dodged a bullet there. They will have to have it repaired and replace the GPS. It's just a butt kicker to have your space invaded like that. But it's cool that something good came out of it.

On a walk behind type of mower, not self-propelled--what does horse-power have to do with cutting grass? HMMM?? Will .5 additional H.P. have any appreciable effect on the power of the machine? Oh, yes, maybe if the operator runs it into 6 ft. high grass that has never been mowed, or cut in any way. Maybe the additional .5 of H.P. will allow the blade to turn 4 more times before it gets stalled out by the thick grass? I have always thought that stating the amount of H.P. was just an advertising gimmick, meant to fool the average homeowner into thinking he might have something much better than his neighbor! now, if the H.P. rating was being used to make a self-propelled mower move along better--well--how much faster would it move, and could the person using it keep up with it? Go figure-- And, as for the goof driving the motor home, who thought they could get up out of the drivers seat and go fix lunch, while under way (That means moving along) should be in the "funny farm", not in court! I drive a motor home, and we've often said we would be able to do that, but only said it in jest (jokingly) as i consider us, my wife and I, to be smarter than to try that, even though we might get enrichened by some smart lawyer. ;o)

gibsona, I'm glad the pig arrived in one piece. I'm also glad my friend cathy's lovely little box arrived at its destination too - she is off on vacation in CA and we'll post her bank when she gets home. She's led our local art camp for about 12 years now, so doing it with the camp tile was a perfect choice for her. I got back from Italy in the wee hours of the morning and I just dropped in to see if it got to you --- now I'm off to the post office and pick up my bank!!

Well, LADY, this doesn't surprise me in the least, that it's gonna be another masterpiece. In the beginning I was a little nervous FOR you cuz I could feel your searching and searching and trying to get a direction on this one. I said to self - in the end, she'll get it and it'll be a knockout. You lived up to my prediction to self. This is truly beautiful, and I LOVE the addition of the crash glass. HAZIE, if you got the glass in large sheets, IMO, that would take the fun out of piecing it back together puzzle-like.

What a way to get some glass! At least it wasn't his personal car!!
Someone else on here was telling a story about their husband coming in the house telling her there was a wreck that just happened down the street. She was all concerned, thinking it might be someone they knew. He was like " No!! There's crash glass all over the place!" LOL!!!

Yep, my sister broke her sliding glass door. Bad for her, good for me! Maybe I'll give her that coffee table top-turned-glass hanging, if she likes it :)

Dh just pointed out to me this morning that the GPS has our home address and his parents home address on it. I know the theives' intent isn't to come to our house, but just take what they could and run off, but that still bothers me.

Dh also got one of those scam emails day before where they tell you you are marked for assassination unless you cough up a certain amount of money. It's a third world scam and his bosses recently dealt with this same thing, but it's just scary to me.

PEOPLE CAN BE SUCH POOTIE HEADS!!!!

I know the feeling. After an accident had been cleaned up, there was a big pile of broken glass and that is all I could think of, how I could stop the car and get some of the glass. Glad I'm not the only one who thinks like that.

No, I don't have a pic of that fireplace but I search the web regularly for it. I saw it on an HGTV progam where they were checking out the fireplace for structural issues and the crash glass was just secondary. However it was a topic of conversation. It had a muted blue background I think and fleshy colored grout. So soothing to look at! But while I was again trying to find that pic, I came across this. Disney is doing mosaics! Oh man, Disney.
We went there a few years ago. The mosaics in cinderella's castle were nothing short of amazing. They were huge, and they were made out of pieces that were about 1/4". Can you imagine being part of that team of artist?

I have found that for the great look of it, it can be tedious to use. I have huge amounts of tiny pieces and I plan on using every bit of it. Need lots of small breaks. The larger pieces are pretty easy to use, feels like cheating, but I'll get over it.

Hey, I knew Mickey and Minnie. They used to live with me - NO KIDDING!!! I love to tell kids that on the airplane heading to Orlando. My daughter used to be M & M (not at the same time) when she was in college.

Sunshine, I'm glad good came out of the bad. I have some crash glass but haven't tempted to use it yet. It seems too tedious to me.
