When doing any research, it helps to get the spelling correct. You are presumably referring to Nicholas Culpeper, who was trained (in part) as an apothecary, but who worked (in part) as a physician. b.1616Âd.1654. While his works are wonderful to read, from an historical point of view (and he had a great sense of humour!), I wouldn't trust too heavily in his remedies, though of course there are some of them that are still used today. Accordingly, I wouldn't trust too much in Mrs Grieves, either. Although her Botanical is fascinating, and a real tribute to her dedication, she relies very heavily not only on Culpeper, but on the Ancients for her information - and she was writing almost 100 years ago. Let's face it. Even though they got it right in some cases (given an infinite number of monkeys and an infinite number of typewriters, you'll soon get one of them to type something sensible!), I wouldn't trust too heavily in any of them. Study them as points of interest and curiosity of course (and respect them, given the times in which they lived), but if you're going to actually USE herbs, look to more modern, more scientifically-researched information sources. Even then, be critical! There's a lot of trash written about herbs, and it can take a lot of reading to sort the wheat from the chaff. Be very careful of sites which are actually trying to sell you something! Some have integrity, many have salesmanship, and not much more. Of course, the more you read, the more you learn. A good place to find reliable information is in the research-papers section in the library of your local university, or agricultural research authority. Cross-referencing and comparisons of research findings are very useful. But also take a browse (several browses!) through any and all books on herbs to be found in your local lending library or second-hand bookshop - this way you won't spend megabucks! "back edge on a wooden strip that would be affixed to metal studs behind drywall. " This is generically called a ledger strip. It allows the placemet of fasteners as needed to support a load that is along the whole strip. If you anchor the ledger strip to the steel studs with suitable fasteners it is not going to come loose from the wall. Toggle bolts would probably be acceptable, but screws that grab the stud to hold the ledger strip are better. Self tapping sheet metal screws at least the thickness of the ledger + thickness of drywall + a 1/2 to 3/4 inch would do well. That would be 3/4 + 1/2 + 3/4 = 2 inches for a 1x ledger strip.

There are so many really good dogs looking for homes. Kind, soft, gentle dogs are euthanized every day because they have no home. I know what follows will sound mean, but my personal opinion (yes I know it's worth what you paid for it), is that aggressive dogs like this should be humanely put down. I'm sorry if that sounds upsetting. This is where Chisue and I may agree - we can't be prioritizing the "rights" (if that's the right word) of an aggressive dog over the rights of humans and other animals to live in peace. I will admit I have had 2 very disturbing unprovoked attacks from pit mixes in the past and so I believe those experiences are now coloring my feelings on this. Both times my dog and I were attacked while walking and my dog was (is) always on a leash - and both times the owners swore it was just an "accident" that the dog got loose. Aggressive dogs are a massive liability and I don't understand why some people will go to great lengths to keep them alive. Again, I'm honestly not trying to be hurtful with this, but I think we as a society are indeed starting to go a little dog-crazy over issues like this.
