When the inpector came out they made us change out every single outlet in the whole kitchen to TR before they would pass us. I showed them the Sillite at that time and they were curious as they'd never seen such a thing, but said it would pass fine.

What does your island look like? All 1 level so you want the plugmold at about waist level below counter along work aisle? On ends? I have a 2 level island with breakfast bar, put plugmold on lower level work area under the overhang from upper counter. Sorry, old picture and not full length, I was trying to show the trim my cousin had made to cover backs of the taller end cabinets. But this is the least-cluttered this countertop has been since! Of course, I just put in regular big-box store plugmold like I'd had in electronics labs in Navy - this was before I found GW and became TKO!

Mine are less than 24" by task lighting (they come as small as 9"). I have them installed on both sides of the island under the seating area. They were expensive but this company was the only tamper resistant plugmold to meet code here. I had to order them thru my cabinet guy since they didn't sell directly to consumers. This was a few years ago. I believe the wires were run thru the back of the cabinet. Here is a link that might be useful: task lighting

If you do decide to run a frozen margarita bar in your kitchen, can I come over? I realize this is probably too late for you to do, but for others who come after... My custom cabinet maker installs a low profile plug upside down into the bottom of the cabinet, facing down toward the counter, then he puts a false bottom less than an inch higher inside the cabinet, so the box, the "works" of the receptacle, is hidden instead of sticking up into the cabinet. On the bottom of the cabinet is a flat, regular two-plug outlet, which is hidden behind the light rail in any case. This works if you don't want outlets in your backsplash, and you also don't want the receptacle box in your way inside the cupboard. I thought it was pretty neat. Cool UC lights are either fluorescent or LED. I think fluorescent is cheaper than LED, and LED tape is cheaper than the LED strips. "Dimmability" makes it more expensive. There are places in Taiwan where it is cheaper to get LED. There are excellent threads on this on the Lighting Forum, with links to trustworthy sites. Davidtay, I think it is, is very knowledgeable about this, as are some other lighting gurus over there.
