What do you think of these shower curtains I made?

I made these shower curtains for the house we are building, won't move in until Sept or October. I need some help on what would go with these. My daughter wanted the Paris theme and thought that black Paris or Eiffel Tower prints would look cute in that bathroom. I am at a loss of what picture or decorations for my son's shark themed bathroom. Tell me what you think and am open to suggestions!

The vanity is dark (but not espresso or ebony) wood in something between transitional and contemporary style, nothing traditional or vintage, but not super modern either) , although we're definitely leaning toward a modern vibe this go-around. As for the cost, I love the cost of the shower curtain liner from Target ($2.39 plus $.99 for the rings) but a shower door was in the original budget, so that's good (we're on budget). Thanks for all your thoughts. We'll probably live with the curtain for a few weeks and then decide, but I'd guess we'll go for the door.

I like the red, but not crazy about how they are hung. The center panels together look much fuller and weightier than the single panels on each end. I would extend the rod out a bit on each side, and add another panel on each side. Be sure to hang several of the rings on the outside of the rod supports to distribute the pleating correctly. I think a matching fabric valance on the kitchen window would be nice, on a similar rod but without the rings, just a rod pocket. I would assume that you are adding casing around the window to match the slider and the half-wall detail. I like your choice of backsplash tile and how it works with the color of the island top.

Found this picture today and i absolutely LOVE it. could I do something similar in my livingroom? what colors? the window doesn't have direct light shining through. maybe add something else to what i already have? OK, I know I'm going to take a beating for this from someone, but, IMO, the current window treatments are just not right for the window and the room (what I can see of it), and no amount of fussing over them will change that. The fabric is a ho-hum color and is too delicate for the mass of sofa in front of it, and there isn't nearly enough of it. Valances and jabots and tassles look wonderful when they are carried off well and are in the right room. They tend to be a more formal look and generally need more formal-type furniture to complement them. And when done well, as in your inspiration photo, they tend to be pricy because they take a lot of fabric and more workmanship. When you try to scrimp on the amount of fabric, you lose the look altogether. If you are on a tight budget, limiting yourself to stationary panels on the sides without a valance would allow you to get more a more substantial fabric and more of it. A heavier fabric would balance out the sofa better, and simple panels without the valance would seem to be a better fit with the sofa.

@KW I never know how much info to give on Houzz when explaining something like this. Yes. I think it is a lot more complicated. Also, I have not found one website that talks about all the symbols. You really have to search for it but I think some symbols are very common on these doors, including the breasts, lock, mountains, and ancestors. I have two real Dogon doors, not the flour and salt version that I just created, but wooden carved ones. I purchased them years ago and made a headboard out of them. Just a few months ago I decided to remake the headboard but still included the two doors in the center. Both of my doors contain all the symbols above, other than the snake.

They're both great!!! Your children will love them, and you are a great mom to want to encourage their unique tastes. :)

May I make one suggestion? I think ribbons instead of rings would look lovely on the Paris theme curtain!

Very cute!

When I look at the Eiffel Tower shower curtain, a french poddle something comes into my head. Maybe French poodle towels or french poodles painted on a tumbler and/or tissue box.

Sweetbean - I like the idea of ribbon rings instead of plastic or metal.

teacats - I liked some of those shark prints you linked.
My son is 6 but I don't want it the room to look too young for him and maybe a real shark print might help.

I have to really start searching for some themed bath accessories. I could always do some solid color ones but where's the fun in that!

The shark shower curtain was made out of a Pottery Barn shark twin flat bed sheet and I added fabric to the sides and top header. I have an attached valance on it. I wonder if I should put a strip of ribbon across the bottom of the valance to distinquish it from the bottom. Or would that be too much?

I am getting excited about moving in a new house. Endless possibilities!

PB Kids recently had a series of shark related stuff, but I am not sure if that included bathroom accessories or not; the pattern bears a striking resemblance to the one you used in the shower curtain though.
