Advice

I've come to respect your opinions and help here and I need some advice. My sister is going through a divorce. She's been married for 29 years and he put her through this 2 years ago, but they reconciled. She has now discovered that he has been seeing a woman for at least 1.5 of the past 2 years (a former friend of hers). She is devastated. I speak to her almost daily, but I would desperately want to do more for her. I live a couple of hours away from her and can't visit often, but just want something to cheer her. Were there any books, activities, etc that helped you survive a divorce? I've sent her flowers last week, but I feel so helpless for her. She is my older sister, but is just one of those very dependent women. I am so concerned for her survival. Whereas I do everything around the home and for our business ... she doesn't even know how to take the trash out. She called last week to ask how far down the curb to leave the can (is it hopeless or what). I suggested that she move to my end of the state, but her grandson (whom they were raising) is a sophomore and wants to remain in his own school. I've never been divorced (yet - but it seems you're never immune) and wonder what were the most difficult issues you faced. Was it financial, emotional, social? What can I do to help? I'm afraid she will jump into another relationship just so that someone willl shovel her driveway (if she even has one left after he gets done with her). She is 55 years old and just got her drivers license a few of years ago. She can't drive expressways and has no skills. I recently talked her into getting voicemail because she can't work an answering machine without destroying it and she is having ssooooooo many problems with it. I guess 30 years of letting someone else do everything for you can leave you pretty handicapped. Our 78 year old Dad went over there the other day to turn her furnace on in the basement. Its a switch people. You flick the switch!!! She was scared. I'm somewhere between sorrow for her and getting crazy because she is so needy. What to do?? She is going to go through some serious adjustments here and will need all the help she can get.
