Replacement Window Grille Options

Several years ago we installed 10 Anderson DH Windows and a Glider in a large space upstairs in our garage. As an essential element to our design, we ordered the "snap-in" grilles to create 4 lights in each sash ( the glider has 6). We would have preferred to do the true divided light as we did in our home, but our finances determined otherwise. We have been brought to tears with the necessary seasonal removal of grilles for cleaning (flies love to hide under them). They inevitably fall apart at the center cross, and cannot be refitted, or break in the process. The grilles are made of wood, and because of the large sizes of our windows, they are flimsy and impossible to handle. They are mostly broken at this point, and we are so disappointed with the look we had wanted to avoid. Does anyone have a suggestion as to how we can proceed to get that grille configuration? We have purchased a couple of replacement grilles, but the same problem continues with breakage.
