@WoW Washington That makes sense. I went to your website and couldn't find a list of brands you sell. I'm looking for aluminum framed sliding windows with narrow sightlines. I'm aware of the uber luxury windows by Vitrocsa, Styline, and Skyframe, and their frames are about 1" thick. Gorgeous. But of course, the prices are as much as my entire home cost. I'm wondering if there's a narrow frame out there, maybe 2" thick, from a more economical standpoint. Milgard and Andersen are thicker than that. What brands do you sell on your site that have the narrowest frames, could you share? It's funny because I live in a old, modest beach house in Florida that JUST SO HAPPENS to have come with super narrow 1.5" frames. Even on my 6' x 5' sliding window. The frame is just 1.5" thick. Love it! But the company went out of buisness.

Why did you choose Milgard? Also, does the Sun Coat Max treatment lessen the amount of light as well as heat? Thanks in advance for your reply.

Hi Karen, Turtle code requires lass than 45% visible light transmittance so the Quad 452 (52% VT) is actually a bit over the requirement and would need to be paired up with a tinted glass in order to meet the 45%, but since your concern is SHGC not VT, I am including a chart of the SHGC (among other) numbers for Cardinal coatings. SHGC is the last number on the right... The third column of numbers from the left is the glass visible light transmittance (VLT or VT). VLT is measured as part of an IG unit not just a single coated lite. On the far right are glass-only solar heat gain numbers, whereas window SHGC rating is based on the overall size of the window for computation, not just the glass area. A full window SHGC rating will always be lower than the glass only number because it includes sash and frame performance (which is zero) as well.

All my windows face South and West and the sun is very strong. I live in CA. The 2 sliding glass doors I purchased about 4 years ago have just the Sun Coat. Its terrible I continually find myself closing the black out drapes. The room is hot and very cold at night. I am happy that I ordered the same Milgard Thermally Improved windows for my entire home with the Sun Coat Max. We have not had them installed yet although I did place the window in the living room on the floor and can tell I will not have to keep closing the drapes and hopefully will not need window coverings at all. I can definitely see the difference. I hear they make a room more comfortable and I can see why.
