Obscure glass in BR window?

At some point soon, I am going to have to replace the one large aluminun slider in our BR. The houses in the neighborhood are close together. Our BR overlooks our neighbor's entry door - he usually enters via the garage, so it's not much of an issue in terms of day-to-day privacy. Just wondering if it would be odd to use some kind of obscure or patterned glass like reed glass in the window. I have blinds, but it would be nice to be able to leave them open and still get light in. Any opinions?

Anderson sells "art glass" windows that might fit the bill for you.

A decorative glass is expensive. Waterglass, bluechip, etc. are available examples. All companies offer art glass, not just Andersen. In fact, Andersen is one of the last to come aboard.

Think blinds between the glass. Sunrise Windows offers it in a slider.

Most wood window companies do not make or offer slider windows. Kolbe is one that does but be prepared to pay a premium price for a wood slider.

For a few dollars you can install an obscure film to the inside pane. It works just as well and obscure glass.

Trying to decide on patterned glass for Andersen window in the bathroom (which looks into our neighbour's bathroom!). Our Andersen rep does not have real samples of the glass and the tiny pictures in the catalogue and on the website are no help at all. Anyone have some recommendations? Then you will need to be picking a custom sized tempered glass fiberglass privacy window, from a local supplier. In person. Not stock anything off the shelf. And NOT standard glass that will cut you to shreds if you slip on soapy feet. You will need to uninstall some of the siding and redo the flashing and trim in order to use a new construction window instead of a replacement window. Flashing it correctly is critical. This is not as easy or cheap as you think it is. Look the entire bays full of now discounted mis ordered windows at any box store. You get the size wrong, you own something to donate to Habitat. Be sure that you understand how to properly integrate a waterproofing system to a window. Cement board is not waterproof. Tile is not waterproof. Grout is not waterproof.

Shades in a bathroom kind of stink because they get pummeled by the relative humidity unless they are like a PVC plantation style blind. Obscured it a nice option, but folks still like some more privacy many times. Not because you can see anything discernible through it, but they just don't like the idea of some neighbors knowing when they are showering.

Beware that advertisement for window films and other products can be deceiving about what they block. What ever you choose, be sure to check "the view" from the outside when the lights are own inside and it is cloudy or dark outside. A lot of things work OK when the sun is shining but they don't work so good at night. Even just a body outline can be unacceptable. A few years ago a new young couple bought the house next door and chose white shades for their bathroom window that has a floor to ceiling window across from the toilet. Also, between the toilet and the full window was the exit from the shower so that same area was where the after shower dry off took place. I never saw it but the neighbor across the street from the young couple got a couple of shocking views and was nice enough to take the young wife aside and share the problem. The peep shows ended that afternoon.

You can use contact paper. They make an obscure pattern, when installed properly looks like obscure glass.

If you want obscure glass get it, forget these expensive decorator glasses. I have a bedroom window that is ten feet away from my neighbor's kitchen window, and they are higher up so they can look directly into the bedroom. I was thinking about getting obscure glass too, only reason I didn't is that if I ever decided to sell the house it might hurt the resale value as most people would think it kind of strange.
