Weathershield's new Premium Line ok?

I know that Marvin is the best, but I can't afford Marvin Ultimates and the Integrity Ultrex don't come in gray blue. WeatherShield released a new line of Aluminum Clad windows that are a great price and look really nice and come in 3 lovely blues. Has anyone had experience with this particular window? I know there are bad WS reviews, but is this Premium Line by WS bad too?

From my perspective there is nothing Premium about Weathershield. Now I have not seen this product line but from my past experience with Weathershield, SNE Enterprises and their vast product lines I would not use anything offered by them. And I do not sell wood residential products nor residential much at all so I have not dog in this hunt only passing on my experience and perspective!

jeri - I was pretty certain the 980 didn't have a tilt draw to it. Not only did I tug on that puppy pretty good, one of the associates confirmed that the draw didn't tilt. Now here's what I'm thinking,... maybe the first run didn't have this feature and later models did. That's very very possible, because see some features on our GE that weren't included on the floor model. Example,... our full width delitray has three (3) temp (produce, deli & quick chill) settings and the one on Home Depot's floor only had the produce and deli settings. There's one other difference between our GE and the one on the floor, and that's the display. Our's has six individual and exposed buttons, the one on the floor has the same selection options but the buttons are under a thin plastic membrane type covering,... sorta like the difference between LG's 950 and 960 models. So it's quick possible 980's in the pipe and being delivered now do sport the tilt feature. Makes more sense than not I'll tell ya that! So far,... so good. We're liking it alot jeri. Such a relief not having any refrigerator drama for once. Well there is one thing that's got us scratching our heads and that's a pretty noticable warping effect going on with our doors. The stainless is very waving (not dents). Kinda reminds you of a Fun House mirror. But we've been in contact with GE and they've offered to order new doors for us. Think I'll take them up on that come Monday. Oh there's one other feature that's I've learned to appreciate on the GE,... the dual evaporator and fan feautre. I say 'learned' because I really had no idea how important this feature was until I spoke to a few reps at a high-end appliance shop in our area about the model. Seems as though it's a big deal having a system that doesn't force the freezer and frige sections to share air. Apparantly most boxes in our class generate freezer temp air, and through a series of vents and ports, is able to warm the air up a little to service the frige section. The GE, along with it's corporate Samsung twin, keeps these two sections separate and with it's dual evaporators and fans are able to independently generate air at the proper temp to service each section. So the air in the freezer never gets to see what the inside of the frige looks like. It's supposed to amoung other things, reduce odor transfer, freezer burns and temp instability. Now if this is true,... then great. Will this feature have me sleeping better at nights? Nah,... not really. But I guess it's nice to know that we're sharing something normally only the big boys can boast about,... like Thermadore. In the end, I'm only concerned about keeping my beer and the kid's milk cold. So yes,... we're enjoying it. Let's see,... anything else? Nah, that's about it. It's an icebox for God's sake! LOL! Oh, Shawn wants me to include that the LG is seems more roomier to her. It's not bogged down with an icemaker in the frige section or the full width deli pantry. I'll agree with that, even though the LG is rated at 24.7 cu ft. and the GE is a wopping 25.8. The LG does seem more cavernous. There was a point when they were taking out the LG and bringing in the GE I was able to do a quick side-by-side,... and yes I'll agree. aprince - I've heard of the poor customer service,... that's been widely talked about. But you're the first I've heard to rate the LG as junk. Maybe it is good fortune that we made our final perch on the GE. I've heard other also say they used to be Goldstar, but there was another company's name that stood for the 'L' that I can't remember. Still, if I were as wealthy as you guys, I still would have opted for the 980,... it's just a good looking box.

I have been using laundress products for over a year now. My overall opinion is that I will not be buying any more. My husband keeps telling me his clothes smell bad and especially our workout clothes, which I have used their sport detergent and it smells of that funky biofilm where bacteria is now trapped in the clothing. Once you get that it, is virtually impossible to get out. I feel like our clothes are ruined. My husband even commented that our sheets smell funny. They never smell fresh, only for a few minutes after I take it out of the wash. I even tried the fabric sprays and nothing works. I will be using this up and going back to my old school laundry detergent. I think it’s just pretty packaging and good marketing.

Hi Jally, Do you currently have any seepage or water leaking at all in their present state? The reason I suggested a reputable handyman is that one who has experience in most all fields will also have the tools to take on this project. To trim out according to your picture, I would bring my portable table saw in order to rip down backing to accept the trim. Also would bring my finish chop saw to clean cut the trims as well as sanders, finish nailers,etc, all tools that a reputable ,experienced handyman would have along with all painting tools. If you are just looking to paint what you have installed and you have no leaking issues, you can easily do this yourself. Get a quart of bullseye zinnzer 123 primer, some dap dynaflex 230 sealant, and a good quart of exterior acrylic enamel and you'll want to put two top coats. Sand and rid any loose debris from all, clean the surfaces well ridding any dusts, primer, then caulk all joints where woods meet using the method mentioned above of cutting a small bead from the tube and as you caulk, moisten your finger and work it smooth into the crevices. Any larger gaps might need a second application as it will shrink a little. Finish off with two top coats of the acrylic. Let all applications dry well each step although you can caulk within a couple of hours of primering if it is fairly warm and dry day out. You might want to wait until it warms up a tad if you are in a colder climate. The brushes mentioned are a good brush for you as well. I prefer a sash brush for all applications, but a good cutting in type brush 1 to 1-1/2" would be easy for you to handle. Purdy makes a good brush, I would recommend the chinex bristled brush. They are pricy but will last you a lifetime if you take care of them. If this is a one time project and you do little painting or not much more in your future, then go with a less expensive nylon bristled brush. Clean often as you go and clean well before storing.

OK to Buy Prescription Drugs Online? Outside US?

Please do not buy drugs online. It's not safe and it's illegal. Online "Canadian" pharmacies are often not even located in Canada. The websites are an outright lie. And "pharmacies" located in Canada are not regulated like real pharmacies unless they actually do business in Canada with Canadian patients. If you want medications from Canada, go to a real physical pharmacy that dispenses to Canadian patients. And since drug names are different in different countries, make absolutely sure both the brand and generic name of the medication is written on the prescription as well as what it is for. That way if there are any questions, that information can be important for the pharmacist to determine if clarification is needed. For example, when Bextra was available in the US, it was a brand name anti-inflammatory medicine. In at least one European country that brand name was for blood pressure medicine, a completely different drug. Brand names are made up for recognition and marketing, while generic names are the chemical name for the medicine molecule, which can vary slightly from region to region but are pretty consistent. In addition, if he US regulations on importation and manufacturing keep our drug supply reasonably safe. We have, at least as of a few years ago, about a 2-3% counterfeit rate. Many other countries buy on the world market which has about 8-10% , or higher in some regions, rate. Drugs purchased online are even worse, as they are often completely outside the medical system of any country and completely unregulated. There was a great article in I think Health magazine if I remember correctly back about 6 or so years ago that followed an investigation of medicines purchased online. It was astounding how bad things were. And some of the "manufacturing" facilities they had pictures of I wouldn't step inside even with a whole truckload of bleach and sanitizer at my side! At the very least, any physical or online pharmacy that does not require an exam by a healthcare provider and an actual prescription should be avoided like the plague. Any online pharmacy that is not VIPPS registered should also be avoided. Please remember criminals lie, so any site claiming to be VIPPS registered should then be verified by searching the registry, not by linking through that website to verify! Working with your doctor or pharmacist for suggestions is helpful. If you use multiple pharmacies, PLEASE keep a list of ALL your medications and ask each pharmacy to enter them on your profile for screening. Paying out of pocket takes away the only screening tool the pharmacy has for seeing major interactions with meds from other places, IF your insurance company provides those alerts to them. Pharmacy shopping and paying cash puts a lot of responsibility on YOU to make sure your medications are safe, so do your best to keep everyone involved well informed. It's in your best interest.

i know millworkman that you have experience with their past products and customer service, but i've heard that a new owner took over and revamped 3 of their product lines and is trying extremely hard to right all of the wrongs made by the customer service. some people that had problems with windows from 2006 had no luck with help until last year when the new owners took over.

i'm hoping someone has experience with the new products

It is not a new owner, the same family has owned them for at least 15 years from what I remember. And IF they were sold it would have been to an investment firm and they seldom if ever improve the products if anything they are only looking to maximize profits while investing as little money as possible. Do what you want it is your home but myself and everyone else has basically been giving you these same answers for 6 weeks that the companies your asking about because you want a "blue" window are not quality companies. I am done and will not respond again so you don't have to worry about having "heard" anything from me.

Try Kolbe Ultra Series. They have a few different blue colors available. Their price can be a little less than Marvin some times and the quality (my opinion) is the same.

millworkman,i do appreciate your input, and you aren't the only person I "heard" from about WS not being a good product. i did not mean to be snarky. trust me, i'm frustrated with myself for wanting blue. i wish i had never seen the house in birmingham that made want blue. my husband is baffled. he says of all things that a woman can go over budget on, windows is not usually one of them!

i thought maybe the "new" WS product was better, so i thought i'd ask. i was hopefu land wanting to believe in them. guess the "new" product is too new to for anyone to say for certain if it is truly better. i shouldn't be their guinea pig.

fenestration, the kolbe's came in 6000 over our allowance for Jeldwen's, but i think i'll have to go over budget and use either Kolbe in blue or go with the Marvin integrity wood and ultrex window in gray or cashmere. i'm getting a quote on those today on the ultrex clad today. the all ultrex window doesn't have grilles on the outside of the glass, so I don't want those for sure.

a friend of mine told me about some vinyl windows made in hendersonville, tennessee that come in blue or any custom color that we could use on the sides and back with kolbe or marvins blue aluminum clads on the front. but i think i'd be a guinea pig with these too.

Picking a window because they come in "blue" is being a penny wise and a pound foolish. MGM vinyl from what I know and remember are not a quality window at all and would never into any of my thoughts.

There are several vinyl companies that offer to paint their product. In my experience this puts the price of the window almost at the same cost as an aluminum clad window. At least from some of the nicer vinyl companies.
