Here's an update. I started thinking about what I could use to close that gap. Had ONE piece of black and white tile. Shaved a tad off the sides and it dropped into place perfectly. Do y'all think it's TOO WEIRD? I'm kinda pleased with how it looks. Should I leave the space around the clock face empty? Haven't quite figured out what to do with it. C&C's welcome.

Oh I love your clock! I REALLY like the black and white tile. It adds a funky-ness to it. The millefloral and the glass are just beautiful.

I agree w/ filling in the face area! Your clock is turning out awesome! I have worked with the millefiore before and it always makes things seem so much more punchy and cool!!! I think you should fill it in w/ a yellow that matches the middle of the millefiore or gold.

Wow! Lovin the clock! It's popin' with fun! Face area would look great filled in. Just tape up before you grout!!

Oh Rosie!!! That tile just added such perfection!! TOO COOL! I drool over milifiore, hard as heck to get here...It just POPS with that tile!!!! Another vote for filling it in.. just ask yourself, What would Laurel do? and it's obvious!!heh heh!

Oh, WOW - very pretty - fill it in and I LOVE (and remember) that black/white tile we bought at Lowes. PERFECT for it.

Crackpot: I ordered my millefiore from one of Laurel Skye's links. The nice thing about it is the package pieces are all the same design.
Shades: Speaking of grandfather's clocks, a local mosaic artist just had an exhibition of her work and one of the most exquisite pieces was a grandfather clock! She used white shards and in certain places had pieces of her blue (and gold?)dishes perfectly placed. She grouted in grey and it was spectacular. I might sneak into the ARts Center and see if it's still there.
Chickee: No, I didn't go with a gold or yellow. I went even funkier! I am SO loving it. Might have to keep it for MYSELF!

Rosie, that is just AWESOME! Quite a striking piece of art. The lime green glass and the bird just sets it off. On the front are those gold colored mirrored triangles?

Oh what a difference. Just beautiful!!! If I could make one teensy suggestion - is it possible to use rectangles on the sides of the clock face instead of the rounded pieces?

WOW!!! Perfection!!! That green just is sooo perfect! LOVE IT!!! And that scrounged bird really ties into most of the colors too!!

Well, here it is. SLOW: I did change the green tiles (they were teensy tiny!) but I added beads so you can't see them anyway. Grey grout was used.
I put some large green beads on top. I think I'm gonna remove those. They look better in person but I don't know.

ABSOLUTELY PERFECT. I LOVE those beads - what are they? 'course, I wouldn't know which ones cuz you have a whole tub-full of beads. That made the whole thing just right. BEAUTIFUL!!!!!

I had to remove the beads that surround the clock face because the hands on the clock got tangled up and wouldn't move! ARRRGGGHHHH! Finally got that sorted and had to reattach the ring around the glass AND the beads! I did remove the large beads that sat on top of the entire piece.
And YES I added the beads after grouting. I think if I ever use millefiore again I'll make a runny grout and "pipe" it where it needs to be. This is SO NOT a gallery piece. D3BBI: The tiles down the front sides are red glass and gold mirror tiles.
