Vintage knobs and new addition, painted & stained doors ??????
Comments (1)I am no help. I prefer painted woodwork to stained, so my vote would be to paint all of the woodwork in the new wing. Because you are not trying to match existing hardware in your house, you can use levers in your mom's area. They are much easier for older folks to use, especially if they have any arthritis in their hands. Comments (16)Thanks again for all of the help. This is my most-answered post of my project! It has been upsetting but I am over it now. As for the question, did he really throw them away, I believe it when he said he did. I am in the very uncommon position of really liking my contractor. I don't think he was lying to me about it. I think he just doesn't appreciate vintage, as budge1 experienced. I could be naive but he has been really considerate about everything throughout the whole job. Anyway, as I said I think the ones I ordered are in better condition than those I had. I will be seeking to deduct this from the final bill when the job is done. Thanks again! I am close to posting my finished apartment photos if I can just figure out how to put photos into the post!...See MoreMatching laundry room door knob hardware in kitchen?
Comments (4)I have all kinds of hardware in my old house. I gave up. But what I did do when I redid my kitchen, is use a black iron Emtek handle on the kitchen side and a silver handle on the other side to matche that room. I was describing that set up to a coworker several years ago and her response was that it was very English to do that. Lol, I wouldn't know. But she has traveled a lot. The hinges are black to matche the kitchen and door handle on the other side, looks good when the door is open. Thefree standing cabinet has black knobs and hinges. The rear of the knobs are a gray steel. The fixtures are chrome. IMO the cool black, cool antiqued steel, and cool chrome all work together. If I did it over I might have used the black for both sides of the door, but I love that silver handle....See MoreShould front door hardware match interior doors?
Comments (4)Matters NOT. WHAT MATTERS IS does your hardware selection, the door stain or color or the hardware on that door in both style and finish...........suit the door itself, and also the exterior of your home. We certainly don't know that. Do we?...See Morecooperbailey
