Pricing, Marvin vs. Andersen

Greetings all. We are going to use a full-service builder to build a new, semi-custom house. He has spec'd Andersen 200 series vinyl-clad wood windows. We've asked him to use Marvin Integrity Wood-Ultrex (fiberglass with wood facings inside) instead. He says that the Marvin windows would cost him (and therefore us) about 30% more than the Andersen windows.

This surprised us because we thought these two lines of windows were essentially direct competitors. Is this not the case? If anyone has insight into what should be the relative cost of these two series of windows (for an established builder buying a houseful), it would be very helpful and much appreciated.

The house is about 3,700 square feet, and will use mostly double hungs, some casements, some pictures, and a few French doors and/or sliders. We will use Low-E glass and either between-the-glass dividers or glued-on SDLs.

Thanks in advance!
