The taxonomy is SE > EX > LX > DX, with the DX being the least expensive and having the fewest features. The LX adds appearance and comfort features (like body-colored mirrors, a nicer radio, cruise control), and the EX adds to the LX some performance features (four-wheel disk brakes) and some more luxury items (moonroof, more speakers). The SE designation, I think, floats. It's not a factory choice this year anyway. There also is a Civic GX, which is powered by natural (G)as. As for what the designations stand for, DX for Deluxe may be correct. But I hate the idea that "deluxe" is the baseline (and, in fact, the least "deluxe" model they sell). It's kind of like the term "full-size" (as in "full-size car") -- like somebody ordained that this is how big a car should be (or what equipment it should have in it) and that everything else is some sort of deviation. Ick.

oursteelers - I love you comment about moving! When my DH and I moved into our house 34 years ago, we both swore we would never move, but go out "horizontally". So far that is still our opinion. Our house is a family heirloom, and full of lots of smaller family heirlooms. I have been successful lately in off loading some of those to our various nephews & nieces, to my surprise. They finally got old enough (50s, with kids) to want to have old family stuff like a set of Minton dishes from 1880, etc. The trick is to wait until they are old enough! Jackie

Thanks; I had seen previous discussions here and elsewhere that suggested that flush-mounted fixtures were acceptable. My question is mostly about what qualifies as flush mounted, e.g. at what point does it stop being flush mounted and start being a pendant? It seems your season just started, Sherry! I like the velvety look on Storm Shelter. Witch's Stick bloom is indeed very nice. Orchid Corsage looks very good with the rudbeckia but I can relate to the nuisance part. My Goldstrum rudbeckia makes quite a statement this time of year but has completely overrun some of my daylilies. I need to corral it in a dedicated spot or get in there and dig out my daylilies!
