If there is even ONE mutiflora rose in the vicinity, the chances of any seedling you find NOT being multiflora are about 10,000 to one, lol. Every mature multiflora will have at least thousands of seeds, and unfortunately they are a favorite of the birds. I know....ugh. EDIT: As for ID-ing the pest, I completely forgot to mention that the stipules of R. multiflora have "hairy" extensions. Down near the base of the leaf, the wider wings will have several green "hairs" (wider than hairs, but the proper name escapes me!). It's a definitive characteristic of multiflora and its hybrids. oursteelers - I love you comment about moving! When my DH and I moved into our house 34 years ago, we both swore we would never move, but go out "horizontally". So far that is still our opinion. Our house is a family heirloom, and full of lots of smaller family heirlooms. I have been successful lately in off loading some of those to our various nephews & nieces, to my surprise. They finally got old enough (50s, with kids) to want to have old family stuff like a set of Minton dishes from 1880, etc. The trick is to wait until they are old enough! Jackie

@Glenn Jones(9b) I'm at the point of not caring what lives or dies. I don't have space inside for all the tender plants, even when it goes down into the 20s. I just have to be picky. Things are going to die those three very cold nights up here. We're expecting high 20s one night and low 30s for two more nights. My plumeria hasn't even lost its leaves yet. It's going to be very pretty in the house if I can find a place for it. I'm thinking about putting it into the bathtub. I would have more room, but I've been clearing out the storage unit, and I have boxes piled in the LR. I will have to pull out my tiny little 4' tall drop-over greenhouse to save some of the plants. I've never had to use it in the two years since I bought it during COVID. It won't hold much, but maybe it will keep some things alive if I put it right up against the house. I've given away so many tender plants this year because I'm just tired of taking care of them. This year, if they die, they die.

Thanks; I had seen previous discussions here and elsewhere that suggested that flush-mounted fixtures were acceptable. My question is mostly about what qualifies as flush mounted, e.g. at what point does it stop being flush mounted and start being a pendant?
