Matching floor, kitchen cabs, and railing

I am remodeling the first floor of my home. It currently has oak cabinets in the kitchen and an oak post and railings going up to the second floor. I want to replace the oak cabinets which are now 25 years old and install a new hardwood floor. I've seen some cherry cabinets that I really like and I am thinking of going with an oak floor that is a little lighter than the post/railings. I wonder though if mixing different colors and types of wood is not going to look good. I am attaching a photo of the oak post and a sample of the cherry wood.

Thanks for any suggestions.
