Thanks to TheJungle, I read the article. I took a couple of extra leaves, put one in water and one in the soil mix, so now I have 2 of each, crossing my fingers that they will take. I added a little bit of charcoal to the tree and off spring, I guess it is good for drainage along with the perlite. I removed the paper between the inner pot and ceramic pot and lifted the inner pot up onto a few rocks to get more air flow. I stuck a rod into the dirt for a couple of minutes and found it completely dry so I watered and gave it a little nutrition as well, some of the stems were getting droppy too. All of the roots look good and are hard and don't smell, however a couple of the trunks are a little soft and flaky in the middle of the stems... I was going to add bark as well, but I don't want to disturb the roots anymore, so I think I will do that in the spring or summer. I'm crossing my fingers. Thank you konni

Well, despite the fact that gas lines have been run down our road, we are on a flag lot (3 houses down a common drive) and my understanding is that they have no intentions of running it down to us anytime soon ....actually last I heard was something like 7 years. A drawback to country-ish living. Anyhow, my husband bought 2 purple (?night owl or something like that) climbing roses to go over the tank. We bought a sweet autumn clematis to cover the ground in front of and around the side of the tank. I was thinking of growing a clematis with the rose but pruning sounds like a nightmare if they didn't share the exact same needs and to be honest I have no idea how to take care of these roses we just bought. I do think in 3 years we will have the prettiest propane tank in town!! I actually have no idea if I'm allowed to plant on it...I'll make sure to keep the valves and pipes free of plant. I'm sure they'll let me know if I can't. Thanks for the advice! Lyn

Yeah, life's full of crapola sometimes. Thankfully, I can honestly say people usually want to do right. If you've got a legitimate gripe -- and your description seems to indicate that you do -- I would be optimistic. I think you just need to get to the right person -- someone who can decide and act. That would be the store manager. And, of course, they're busy all the time. However, I think it's about your turn at the front of the queu in this deal. If you can get face-to-face, I would be optimistic. Cmon back and tell us how it goes.

OK, everyone, I didn't mean to get y'all so excited about the prospect of seeing a chair recovered. LOL First, I apologize I don't have a photo tonight. DH came home and I was napping so he took the chair out of my van to put in his so he could take it to the house tomorrow. I'll have him take photo's of it once he gets it inside. I told him to put it in the office for now so it will be out of the way of the finishing work on the house. I'm not sure where it will live permanently because as you know I'm not in my new house yet. I hate to tell you, but it won't be covered yet as I'm still in the deciding stages of drapes, etc. for the house. newdawn, I don't have a lot of nice upholstered chairs like this one (will be). I just have some wooden rockers for the porch, an old one that has a beat up fabric seat that needs major reapir by DH before I can think of restoring any beauty to it and a side chair that needs a new seat cover and cushion. I'm waiting for the weather to get cooler before I start embarking on some of my refinishing projects because the heat is so oppresive here. I get weak after being outside more than 1/2 an hour. Here is a photo of 2 cypress rockers my sister gave me as a house warming gift. They are hand made by a gentleman in a small Louisiana town and they only cost $100 each. All they need is a clear coat to bring out the beauty of the wood. They are the most comfortable chairs I've ever sat in. I apologize for the blurry photo.
