Wooden Box WIP

I started this little wooden box today and I'm really enjoying working with this china.

Huge thanks to Lyndalu for the great instructions and encouragement!

This is the first plate I've cut up and it's so easy to work with. I was really happy to be able to save that center piece and I was sooooo nervous to make that first snap after I scored the plate. Just closed my eyes, held my breath and TADA! I was so shocked that it actually worked for me, lol.

Lookin' good Envy! Klinger was mentioning just the other day to me that she is thinkin' of mosaicing a box for jewelry. I think Shrty has been Our Reigning Queen of The Mosaiced Boxes!!!

Well thanks again, y'all. BECKY, it is REAL simple to make - just find a box or a drawer, turn it upside down on a piece of large brown craft paper, draw around it, then draw a header for the top, cut it out w/a jig saw, then make a one-inch border on the inside of your side lines and a 1 3/4" border on the inside of your top/bottom lines, w/a drill make a hole inside those lines, then w/your jig saw go into that hole, cut out the hole, leaving the border, then tack your facing onto the box, and viola you have a little shrine - a blank canvas and just do whatever your "art" desires on it. REALLY easy. Thing that took me the longest was cleaning off my garage work table so I could make it. LOL. NT - on the paint job, I meant to give it a weak umber wash and was so anxious to hang it up, I forgot. Thanks y'all.

You are perfecting your art, for SURE. LOVE the arms. What treasure is held by the hands - can't quite make it out. And, BTW, you did a fantastic job of molding those arms, too, especially around whatever treasure the hands hold. Doncha just love the combination of clay w/other things? Whatcha gonna put in your box?

Good morning all, another one completed!!!! Thank goodness...an old good for nothing sewing machine cabinet now has a purpose. It is going to make a great work station for me up in the house. and until I get a box under it and behind the door (which might be awhile) I will store the tiles I'm using on my projects in the ole barrel to the side..Another use for an old piece!!! OHMYGOODNESS!!!!!!!!! I missed this yesterday. NT - what can we say except this is just too beautiful for words. Not to take anything away from Linlee's box, but ahem - I like yours better, and I'm NOT telling why. I know you must be super proud of this one. How I'd love to have one of those sitting on my dresser.

Thanks for the compliments ladies!

I'm going to use this box to keep my makeup in. Thought it was a pretty way to hide some of the clutter. I'm also going to do a kinda, sorta, somewhat, matching one to keep nail polish and stuff in.

I am going to cover the whole box, but I don't think I'm going to do it all in china. Not sure what the plan is yet, I'm just making it up as I go. I'll keep ya posted!

I'm just catching up after a couple of days and almost missed this! AWE....thanks, Cindy...that's so sweet of you. I'm so glad that I could help.

What a great job you're doing. And I think it's a particular challenge when you're cutting a plate and want to keep the center, AND want to keep the edges in tact, too. So you did ESPECIALLY good!!!!
