What type of hose should I buy?
Comments (5)Just by one that works for you. I have both types. The coil ones are nice because I use it on my patio, but I use the reel type more often. They carry more water and there's no comparison when it comes to distance. Coil is around 20ft. My reel type goes over 250ft because I don't have a bib at the other end of my yard....See MoreWhat sander to buy?
Comments (7)mama goose - why do I want to put holes in the paper (sand paper?)? the scrolls aren't much - I can probably do those by hand with sand paper. moccasin - the glider is very old and very used. A neighbor moved away a # of yrs ago and didn't want to take it - so I did! I do need to just scrape off the big chips and then just a light sanding. not leaving the natural wood - it's ugly - lol! will spray paint it. it has metal framing too. i don't want to use any chemicals. I do have a mask for over my nose (and mouth?) to use. and googles... it's too hot to work with those on now - probably til late OCT anyway. these will be things done in the winter anyway. I do have an outside outlet in the 'new' place. don't in the one I'm in now. i'm not concerned about making the glider look real great -I'll probably buy a cushion to put on the seat (covering that up). I just want it decent to sit on with the dogs. a lot of bare wood shows tho - so I'll need primer - right? when I get to it I'LL post a pic of it and see what you all think I need to do. will have J do as much as possible!! i'm sure he can do it up in no time flat - compared to me doing it. I'll need to do a little work (months from now) on my screen doors too (at least the back one). I see some rust starting and will want to take care of it before it gets worse. i thought I'd better get the sander sooner tho cause might need it for some other things. I might need the sander for the edges of my pantry shelf - when I split one of the shelves in two. I need a new drill too I guess. I have one but can't seem to get it to recharge. my BIL says just to toss it and get a new one - but he does that with most things (like the indoor/outdoor vac I'm getting from them that he wanted to just trash. I think he just wants to get the newest 'toy' - I can't always do that!) My drill wasn't that old. maybe 10 yrs - but considering how often I used it - not much. A guy would use it more in a yr than I did in 10 yrs. I'll ask at HD about recharging it or getting a new one when I go to look at sanders. I even had a sander once - don't know what happened to it (and don't care really). it was my X's - probably 50 yrs old - metal and heavy. and rectangular. I can't use something that heavy anymore....See MoreWhat type of sander do I need?
Comments (3)+1 on the random orbit sander (ROS) and on the variable speed, soft start. I have a Bosch that I've had for 20 years and like it. I got a great deal on a Festool a few years ago, and it is very nice. I'm not sure it's three times as nice as the Bosch to justify the price difference. I've used some single-speed Dewalt and Porter-Cable and found that they very easily gouged the wood, a problem I've never had with the sanders I own. My pad sander has been sitting on the shelf since I got the ROS....See MoreWhat type of soil should I buy for salvia plants and can I winter 'em?
Comments (4)Hot Lips has wintered over very well for the last three years in my Shoreline garden. As for soil, large pieces in the mix. In the spring and summer don't water unless soil is really dry - about half way down the pot. Fast drainage is the key - even more important than full day sun. Fortunately, the plant is not very expensive so if it does freeze buy a new one in the spring. You can grow lots of different salvias if you consider them annuals. The hummers will thank you and give you hours of joy watching them. You could also try Grevilleas and fuschias....See Moreci_lantro
