Hi, Nbee - I think you should just give it some time. Think of the changes in his life; he's only 3, and his world has been disrupted. You didn't say how long your boyfriend has been divorced, but this little guy has experienced Dad leaving, going back and forth from Mom's to Dad's and vice-versa, and having a new person living at Dad's house. Did you spend time letting the kids get to know you and accept you before you moved in? 5 months is short (IMO) to move in with someone and expect little ones to "get it" and accept you. Fortunately the 5 year old does; I hope that continues. It's great that you care and are trying to form a relationship with the 3 year old, but don't force it. Remember, too, that you're only 5 months into this relationship with your boyfriend (don't know how long you've lived with him). Think of the additional upheaval on the kids should your relationship go bad and you move out. If they come to love you, that'll be yet another loss for them. I wish you the best. Thanks, Chisue! The dear little guy was here yesterday, looking as sweet and beautiful as ever. He'll be two weeks old tomorrow. He nurses well and goes through the usual amount of diapers, but the pediatrics office says he's not gaining enough weight to satisfy them. I hope they don't ask my DIL to give him formula. This is what happened with my first baby, and of course supplementing reduced my milk supply, so the breastfeeding didn't last long after that. Both my daughters were very low on the weight charts, resulting in frequent conflict with the pediatricians. Both girls grew up healthy and small--just like my stepdaughters, whose body types they shared. The weight charts don't seem to allow for much individuality, and when the doctor wrote Failure to Thrive on my healthy, active second daughter's chart, I was seriously angry. My son was high on the weight charts, so I didn't have any more battles with the doctors. Not about that, anyway. LOL

hmmmmm, I don't see any wrong with what he said. I am my mother a lot :o) And when I saw the above on Facebook, it made me laugh. Thinking someone else might as well. Thank you all so much! Son and DIL live about 3 hours away, and he works two jobs--one as paramedic, and the other as a firefighter, so he sometimes calls between runs. They have no children yet but he is very good with my grandson, his nephew. My son was in the military for 7 years and didn't get home much, but my grandson has always been very comfortable with him--never any 'stranger anxiety.' My younger daughter was visiting this week-end and helped me stack brush today, and elder daughter and SIL painted one of the bathrooms. All great kids! (Grandson's favorite JT song is Mockingbird, so it has become a tradition. :)
