CL Price check needed -- nope not a chair!

This coffee table just became listed a few minutes ago. I have been on the hunt for one to paint and I like this one and heck it may not need any paint. It would def go with my stuff.

It says it is Chris Madden and it is $60.I am not familiar with Chris Madden furniture and dont know if it is a POS or well made. TIA

I have some chris madden pieces and they are from JC Penny, not great quality, not cheap. I think $60 is fair

I know JC Penny has a Chris Madden line for towels. Do they also carry a furniture line? My guess is that it's probably made with some type of mystery wood and painted. I would offer $40 for it. People often pad the price of their item, expecting someone will make an offer. They may counter at $50.

I like it but don't think I'd pay $600 for a used couch, even a well-built one. I'm leary of buying used couches though - my little ones had a few "accidents" on my old couches and I had to take apart the cushions to thoroughly clean them. This seller mentions a few times that the couch has had "quite a bit of use." That being said, my 8-way hand tied leather couches with down blend cushions are just as comfortable now as when I bought them 10 yrs ago. Other than the leather slightly fading, they're good as new. That's good and bad, because I'm ready for a change but can't justify spending $$ on new ones!

graywings - Do you mean the fabric is stretched so it's sagging? I did notice that, too and maybe should ask for a clearer pic of the overall chair. I kinda assumed that it was just the angle of the pic or something. palimpsest - definitely no reupholstery plans here! auntjen - I agree that the price is good, but of course not good if the fabric doesn't match my decor well or they're not in great shape. (btw, the last pic is a closeup of the fabric) I will ask the seller for more pics just to be REALLY sure before I pass on them. :)

Ok, I like the idea of using the panels from the transom windows! Thanks! hahaha, yes, I do indeed! I think chair shopping is my way of handling the denial that I will need to start looking at nursery room decor soon! :) Well, I did go to see the chair and it was very nice BUT it needed a MAJOR overhaul. It was in rough shape. Plus, the size and scale were a bit large for the space I had in mind. I tossed around just bringing it home anyway and having it fixed up and then just finding somewhere, anywhere in our house to put it but then I came to my senses. lol My DH says that I bring home old, ugly chairs like other people bring home stray puppies. :) I have to admit he's right.

Thanks so much, I will offer $40 if I decide to go for it. And be lucky I dont pay $70 with how good I am at bargaining ;)

I've bought furniture from JCP and was very happy with it. I think their Chris Madden stuff is a cut above their norm.

Thanks all! we went out to buy it and she accepted $50 for it. That never happens to me- maybe I am getting better at this bargaining biz. She and her family were really a joy to meet. When I got home I emailed her the link to GW.
