Yes, around $600 is just for the door. I'd spend a little more if I thought the quality of the door was better. I don't want to waste my money on a piece of junk, but I simply cannot afford to drop a ton of cash on this project. I'll call around tomorrow to Allied and ABC and see if they carry any products in my price range. What is a good way to demo the existing door? I haven't opened up the wall or started ripping anything out yet, but I'm guessing the existing door was installed with a nail fin. It's probably going to be a pain to remove. Ahooke: I have a dear golfing friend, now living in Marietta, who is not playing much golf at this time of year either. LOL Totally unscientific and I have don't have proper terminoligy for window parts, but here my theory goes: Water can definitely get in on the "movable/sliding" window unit at point where it's fitted into the track bottom. But I think even if you took a syringe of water and squirted it out anywhere along the vertical sides of the window unit where it fits into the stabilizing wall track, you will find the water ends up in the horizontal track, at the bottom. The sill track, inside and outside, has enough fitting joints for parts that are not water tight so that the tract (under both the stationary and movable units) really acts as one single trough and lets water occupy all of it if not leaning toward the way of the weep holes. On my vinyl replacement windows there needs to be about 1/8" of water in the "trough" before weepers reach "emptying/draining" mode. Why are the weep holes placed so high in the trough sides? I do not know. Hidden weatherstripping all around our stationary sealed window unit looks like a long 1/4" wide strip of short fiberglassy hairs. It is not a closed-cell vinyl strip material and therefore I'm assuming it is not waterproof. Hey, what do I know, but I may test my syringe theory when it warms up. It was 31.8 degrees in my So. Cal. backyard this morning!

@meganhowlett did you ever get your Jeldwen door issue solved? I am having same issue, with same jeldwen door (mine has blinds inside glass), and wish I would have seen this thread before having this door installed and trusting my contractor (who has since quit without giving me the paperwork for the door, all because I questioned the door, the installation, and the amount I paid the contractor for the door).

OK, they just left. I am happy to say this finally brings my thread to its ending. I hope this thread ends up helping other people when they encounter issues during their install. While I may of vented here at times, I was never disrespectful to the company providing their services. Even today after they were done, we sat around, talked and drank some water I offered before they left. This was probably one of the nicest group of guys I have ever hired, unfortunately we ran into a lot of roadblocks. Not only was there some install quality issues, but I had 5 panels of glass that arrived with large factory defects that was completely out of their control. When you combine everything, it just felt like a lot to deal with. I will post up some final images. All flashing was done properly this time, and they redid the exterior trim and added wood behind the trim as before it was just hollow without support which is why it started separating. I am now happy and just wish this could of been done the first time. I just left my review for the company involved and gave them 5 stars. While it took 5 visits to get all this corrected, they never disrespected me, and always responded to everything. That is a sign of a good company. I told them I never tried to be difficult, but I wanted to be sure I protect my biggest investment which is my home.
