Wine room - how to deal with heat/ac ducts

I have a small room (8 x 10) in the basement of my 1930s house that I want to use as a wine cellar. The biggest problem is that there are huge ducts exposed on the ceiling (maybe the trunk line). When the heat goes on it raises the temparature of the room from what is a relatively steady 60 up to 68 rather quickly. My plan was to install a small cooling unit in the wall but how to deal with the crazy flucations from the ducts? Note that it is impractical to do a drop ceiling because the ducts hang below the existing 7'6" ceiling leaving an area of the room under the ducts with only about 6' of head space.
Any suggestions?
Thanks
