Powdery Mildew

Hello,

I am wondering what would the best powdery mildew fungicide for wine and table grapes. I want something organic and have found that sulfur, Serenade, Sonata and Organic JMS Stylet oil are all acceptable. I am thinking sulfur would be the cheapest and most affective. The only problem is, there are many types. Some websites recommend the powdered form, and others say liquid. Any ideas?

I prefer the powder form. Usually it's a 5lb per acre rate with atleast 30 gallons per acre. If it's for garden use, you can mix about 2-3 ounces per gallon of water. It's best to spray mid morning or late evening, when temps are below 90. Sulfur has no residual or systemic effect, so spray after rains and cool overcast days.

Ok, I dug a little trench around it enough to make sure there aren't any maple roots intruding. Its definitely not wet. No spider mites. It seems very well rooted and I didn't dig if up completely; I felt like I would disturb it too much? The leaves on one side definitely seem like they have some sort of mildew or fuzz on them. I don't like to use sprays but the garden store suggested Advanced rose and flower 2 in one spray. I will give it a try. I did fertilize it with osmocote in early spring and used compost. I really don't want to lose it. Thanks for taking the time to help....

where are you.... big city name.. mildews in fall are ubiquitous for most of us... research indicates its a deciduous plant.. its september.. ugly leaves in sept usually arent a big deal for me.. clean them up when they fall off.. and be done with it.. should you wish to have avoided this.. you should have been spraying all summer long.. BEFORE it appeared... those black spots.. dont look like powdery mildew to me... ken

Powdery mildew on squash (and almost all other affected plants) is a foliar disease. It doesn't affect the fruit, which looks very clean to me. It is also not caused by wet weather - water on the foliage actually prevents the spores from germinating. It can occur in late season even in very dry weather as long as humidity is high. Removing any affected foliage and thinning the rest to improve air circulation and reduce immediate humidity is advised.
