gardencpa, See I can't imagine having just one party and then calling it quits. I hope to have several. But not all of them as big as I hope to have when we move in. That's a different thing and I think BIG works there. To do that often would take the fun out of it for me. So what colors are you looking at for your house? fishpants, Cooking, hummmm...... You know, DH did mention something about my new Wolf rangetop and cooking. I just don't remember if it was something "important" so it must not have been.....right? A wedding reception, now that would be a "fun" party! Oh Amy, your DH's rub sounds Gooood! Does he hire out? LOL! Soonermagic, football game parties are like the perfect size. Big enough for fun but there's no stress involved. What kind of menu do you do? Or, just easy stuff. Woodswell, I don't know - lots of reasons for me to NOT have a party... that's sad! I think your DH's idea of catering an open house would be a great idea. No Stress level. But I guess you'd better keep the music down! LOL Hoosiergirl, Just because you're in and haven't had the party doesn't mean you can't have one later. Look how many honeymoons are delayed in this world. Like mikeyvon and vancleaveterry said....It's NEVER to late to have a party and if you want one badly enough there's always a way to get her done! Having fun is the important thing! Bonelady, SMART! Plus having everyone do something like helping to BBQ in shifts makes some people feel good. Easy menu too. Parties like that just seem to turn out perfect. :)

I personally disagree with everyone. Let me explain why. In the summer of 1999, I was traveling throughout southern France with my colleague Pierre. We rented a small Geo Metro and decided to pursue our dream of hiking to the top of Melebrea Mountain on the west coast of France, outside of a town called Beaujeau. I'll never forget the wind was blowing just right, a warm breeze to accompany the cool atmosphere. It was atop of this beautiful mountain where I dropped my pants and took the best poop of my life. I owe it to a 1965 bottle of Dom Perignon I drank earlier that day. The point of my story: No matter what age, Champagne is a glorious experience.

9/4/2016 i wanted to buy the Venetian 80" mirror - on sale $400 but then i was at the store and the manager says $200 shipping?? i was like have it shipped to your store and i will pick up! she said no" so i said GOODBYE! She actually said "goodbye" and i will not be shopping at RH anymore - there are Way too many retailers out there with free shipping, lower shipping or pick up. This store is Ridiculous! a Huge Recession will knock them back on their Feet. mike westport, CT

While I know it's true that some of the folks who are begging for cash on street corners really are destitute and need the money, I also know that some of them are not. Quite a few years ago, there was a woman who would stand near a light rail station in downtown Sacramento at the end of the day when state workers were going home. She was always there on payday and for several days after payday. She also always had a baby in a stroller with her, no matter what the weather was like. Can you imagine how that tugged at people's hearts, to see a mother and child in the rain or bitter cold, begging for money for food? Well, one day someone happened to see her leave the area and walk to one of the side streets, where she got into a Mercedes driven by a well-dressed man about her age. The guy who saw this told his girlfriend, who was a reporter. The reporter followed up on what she thought, rightly so, would be an interesting story. Turned out the "destitute mother" was taking in close to $100,000 a year (on which she was not paying taxes) by her little begging routine. Child protective services threatened to take the baby away, saying the mother and father were unfit, since they were subjecting the baby to being outside for hours and hours in horrible weather so that they could conduct a scam. FlamingO said, "We keep enough on hand that if we needed to leave town on a moments notice, we would have enough to pay a house-sitter and have cash in our wallets to spare." Hubs and I did have to leave town once on a moment's notice very late one night, when my brother was hospitalized and wasn't expected to live through the night. I was gone for over 9 weeks -- and glad that I had a bunch of cash with me.
