Father's Day

So is anyone planning anything for father's day? I'm doing a barbq and inviting family and friends. I just finished a poster with a poem for him and put pics of all the kids. Plus i made him a card from my son. I bought a few gifts as well.:)

I hope this year is better for him than last year. Last year his kids gave him nothign and acknowledged it to him while he was passing by the hallway..'oh happy father's day'

Needless to say when they left i made it up for him with a card and gifts.

I understand they are getting older and maybe they feel silly but hey.. their loss.

So this year i decided to throw a party in the backyard and call family and friends :)

Anyone else throwing a barbq? Were having a heat wave here....so bring on the water hose!!!!!

I am sure we will spend Father's Day at MIL's house, as usual. She makes a big deal of it, gives DH and BILs nice gifts, and does the same on Mother's Day for her DD's and me. I don't have a living Dad, and my kids don't see their BioDad anymore (Long story), so it matters little to me. I do get gifts for DH, from my BK's and me. My SKs never even send a card, and only half call.
I have been trying to work up the nerve to call DH's EX and beg her to let me bring up the YSC early, as a surprise for DH. They get out of school tomorrow, and it would be possible to have them arrive on Saturday, let them sleep at MIL's, then spring the surprise at her house, or even at church in the AM. My would he be happy! I just know that BM will not do it, will probably tell me to F@#$ off, and she has no motivation to let DH have an awesome Father's Day. He has never spent a Father's Day with them since they moved.
Now, if the SKs had the idea, she might do it, but not for me and not for DH's sake. Perhaps if she got the credit....

I'm picking up SD on Friday and Saturday morning, we are supposed to drive to San Francisco. My DD, her friend and my step niece are going to a concert in SF while DH, me & SD go sight seeing, have dinner, etc. We're spending the night & on Sunday, we're spending the day in SF and driving back in the afternoon. BM picks up SD at 6 and we'll take my dad out for dinner. That's the plan anyway.

My SD called and wished me a Happy Mothers Day. I was very touched because we have had a rough time of it. My SS did not, but I decided not to worry about it. My kids bought me a flower and a card for the 1st time. They are 16 and 11. They were with their Dad, but came to spend the day with me. My Ex never reminds them or offers to take them shopping, so I was so surprised that I received anything this year. My 11 yr old even told me that he spent his own money on the flower!!! I was very happy just to spend the day with them.

What a beautiful rose and lovely photo of you. May your dad have many years to visit this rose in person. My dad has been gone 60 years, but I still remember him as clearly as if it was yesterday. He grew some lovely roses, too. Diane PS--I'm reading "The Daughter of Time", sometimes called the best mystery ever written (in 1951, Josephine Tey, author). It's a possible solution to the Richard lll supposed murder of the little princes imprisoned in the Tower of London. Richard was the last of the Plantangenets, and the War of the Roses ended with him. Your rose was the House of York's symbol. Boy, I hope I got that right.

I will be helping DD wrap her present for dad in the morning, and after she goes off with him volunteering at the local VA hospital. My dad died when I was young, so no dads in my family.

My DS will be with his dad. FSD is in NM. BF tried to get her to come this weekend and stay for a couple of weeks, but BM is conveniently not answering his calls or responding to his texts. I will do something for him, though. He is a wonderful dad and deserves respect. And I'll even claim that FSD helped pick it out so that he doesn't have to hurt over the lack of her consideration.

we never celebrate father's day that much but my dad's birthday falls on father's day, so we are having a party at my dads house. DD is at her dads.

hmmm . . . putting together the bathroom we've torn apart? Nothing says "I love you dad" like a box of tile waiting to be installed!

We did get DH a couple books on how to build tree houses, new little hammers for each of the kids and a new big daddy one for him. I think he is more excited about this project than the kids are . . . seemed fitting.

We are lucky that SD15 will be arriving Friday afternoon, and will be here for 5 days. It's quite by chance that she'll be here, since she was just here for SS18's high school graduation. We asked Mom if she could come this weekend because it's DD5's first dance recital. Being that SD15 is a very accomplished dancer, and youngest knows that and loves to see her sissy dance, we thought it would be great for her to be here. Nicely, Mom agreed to let her come. I'm sure she's pissed off now, since the day after she booked the flight, she received the Petition for Change of Custody notice in the mail. At any rate, she'll be here, and DH's band is playing a benefit concert that we will all go to for good eats and great music. Should be a great time!
