Hi GWebbers: I am chairing the Geneva/ Chuluota American Cancer Society Relay for Life which will be held May 15th. There are Relays all over but this is new for our community. The event is a community get together/carnival/slumber party. It is a also a fundraiser for a very good cause. And it is also a time to celebrate cancer survivors, remember those we lost, and support all the caregivers out there, through ceremony and their participation in the event. Our event will be unique in that it is going to be "Relay the Country Way" and, instead of being held in an athletic field at a school, which is typical, it will be held in a big field off Snow Hill Road so we can whoop and holler all night and only bother the critters. The idea is families, clubs, businesses, friends - whatever - make teams (typically 10-15 people) and the team raises money by asking people to pledge to support them, and hold bake sales or whatever in advance, and, at the event, also raise money by selling food or baskets or *plants* - whatever strikes their fancy. Each team sets up a campsite. Each team keeps one person walking on the track for 18 hours (6PM thru noon the next day) while we provide music, food, ceremonies and other entertainment round the clock. In keeping with the Country theme, we will have a contry music radio station live broadcast, several top notch local country music performers, line dance lessons, a pig roast, and other fun things. It would be fun to have a GWeb team - the team could sell plants at the event as the fund raiser and I think it would be a hoot to have a bunch of you characters all camping out! Or if any of you want to bring a team of any composition we would welcome you. Also if you are a survivor, someone currently battling cancer, or a caregiver, and want to be attend the event in that capacity we would love to have you. We will have special shirts made for you, we will have a survivor/caregiver lap, and for a small donation for each luminaria, we will have a luminaria ceremony just after sunset where we light candles in bags decorated with the names of those we wish to recognize. I got it through Seminole Natural Lands Committee with which I just recently started volunteering to do cleanups on trails and rivers. They asked for widest distribution so here it is... I await W7. I'm at work at the moment so I don't have my bookmarked pages available. W7 is not an actual new release, but rather an upgrade to Vista. Vista's architecure was security based where W7's is going to start with the Vista foundation but be be performanced focused. The available editions which we have become accustomed to are reported to be changing their content. The identifying names are pretty much the same, but the versions' capabilities have been refined. In all as I explain to people, the release of W7is quite similar to the release of Win98SE in improving Win98OE. Personally I haven't found anything wrong with my Vista system and I do forcast the habitual release "uproar" will be present with W7. I say this as I get the impression from talking with users, and reading posts and columns that the XP users are complacent with their systems and are not going to be too responsive and comfortable with any type of change. As far as our situation goes... she picks them up from school and has them for approx two hours before we get off work. We (my hubby and me) are of the opinion if she wanted to know or bothered to do homework she would look in the paperwork and find out. We call and tell her about major events (to which she rarely shows unless I am going to be there or she can make a scene about how great she is) For instance: parents football meeting coming up... We will tell her .. wether she cares or not to show who cares... I always prefer to not be able to be made the bad guy "you never bothered to tell me.. so I couldnt attend" If we can't or dont feel the urge to speak in person... we do this nifty thing with the cell phone that goes directly to voicemail without her phone actually ringing... give the info and then we never have to talk... and since she always has her phone.. she cant say i never got the message..
