Here is a cake I made for my daughter for her shower.

Is the towel cake already made? Do the towels have a fragrance of their own? If they do, you might consider taking the cake apart and washing the towels with a very minimum of fragrance-free detergent, maybe an eighth of a cup or less, then adding white vinegar to the final rinse. Then do not use any sort of softener in the rinse or in the dryer. You do NOT want to add some other fragrance. (Adding the vinegar will make the towels fluffy and static free.) As for adding buttercream fragrance, Yankee Candle has Buttercream. Link below is to the Buttercream candles. If link does not work for you, just go to www.yankeecandle.com, then click on "shop by fragrance," then "alphabetical." I think if you stuffed unwrapped votive size candles inside the layers or core of the towel cake as you assembled it, the buttercream aroma will permeate the cake before the wedding. I had to read this twice. Looks like from the second post that the OP did not encourage the family to attend the wedding - the 'adult' part of her simply decided not to push the issue and agreed not to attend, herself. Dirtunder, are you upset by the events, or are you upset by the silence? Sometimes the elephant in the room left undiscussed is far more painful then the event itself. At any rate, we all benefit by setting emotions aside and by learning how to talk to our families about what upsets us. BTW, is anyone talking about the fact that brother is an alcoholic and had (has) sexual boundary issues? This seems like a forest through the trees topic to me.

Plectrudis (viridiflora), I am surprised that you were told it wouldn't do well in the heat. Ralph who bred this rose lived about 45 miles south of me. While I am a tad bit hotter than he was in the summer, our temps are still like the surface of the sun on a summer day. That goes on for weeks on end and it may cool off at night to the 80's or so for about three seconds (give or take). Right now, mid February it is 80 degrees here! A bit unusual but seems to be the trend for the past couple of years. I had to wait about 6--9 months to get my rose on its own root from Burling. I then had it in a pot for over another year before I finally put it in the ground. It wasn't much more than three twigs at that point. I am glad that Burling told me it takes a very long time to develop on its own root. It has been in the ground for a year now. It is about a foot to a foot and a half tall. Slow is the operative word but I am still glad to be blessed with three of them. Here's hoping they will double in size this year. Third year, they should start to leap (keeping fingers crossed). Also, since the flowers last so long on the "bush", it is rarely without flowers even in our heat. Flowers in the heat last about a week and when it is cooler, about two weeks. A long time for a rose bush. I am glad to know there are others who want and like this unusual rose.

Annie, you are such a great person. You are always there when someone needs you and you do beautiful things with cakes. I just love this one. Yes, you could do cakes for a side business, but you do so much already. The young couple had their wish come true and will have such wonderful memories. When Darrell finally out and out proposed, a different story, I knew we had to have our wedding at my mom and dad's house. My dad had never seen any of his children get married. My first marriage took place in Tokyo, but the others were local. I decided if we couldn't get Mohammed to the mountain, we'd get the mountain to him. We were married in their living room in front of their white fireplace by candlelight. Mom and I used to do wedding cakes, so she made ours, the punch, etc. I made my sister's and my peasant style gowns from material I had had kept when I closed my fabric shop in Virginia. At the last minute I got my sister and I each a rose with baby's breathe. All under $100. It's lasted almost 43 years so I guess it was a good one. I hope this young couple is as fortunate. Oh, and when we made wedding cakes, one couple didn't tell us the wedding was actually taking place in her parents' back yard. Hot June day. We tried to tell her the four tier cake would melt, but she didn't care. Sometimes they aren't so picky.

Livnlife I will be glad to. My daughter is getting married tomorrow so I will try to send them in a day or two. It really is easy. Roll a few towels and deforate. I will show you.

My daughters wedding is in March and I cant believe how stressed I am over all the planning! It's really not like me! So much to do...it's overwhelming!

I was so stressed. There was so much to do at the house before the wedding with the girls dressing here, the hair and makeup people, trying to set up a snack in the am for the hair and makeup people and then I had wraps made and salads for the girls to eat before the wedding It was at three so I had to give them something to eat. I just ran out of time. My hair was not done and the photographer said hurry get your dress on....Boy I thought I was going to lose it. In the end everything that mattered was great. Just seeing my daughter being so happy and so in love made me feel sentimental all day. She is my last daughter to get married. I had three. Now the empty nest syndrome. I am going to send the link for the cake. Later on today. OK? Did you get your dress? I just posted mine with my daughters this morning. You can see it.

Use this site to get some ideas. You can decorate anyway you like. I made mine brown and cream because they were my daughters colors for the wedding, Wrapping it in tule with a large ribbon on top looks great. I also picked up an inexpensive bride and groom for the top of the cake.
