fiberglass vs. aluminum clad doors

Hi all-

I will also post this on the building a home site, but maybe someone here can also answer. I am going to put in a bi-fold door exterior system in our new home and have to decide between two doors. Our max opening is 14 Â 7", and weÂd like to use as much of this space as possible. The opening is on the west side of the house, so it will likely take a beating since storms generally come from the west.(We are in the Bay Area, CA, so weather usually isnÂt that inclement). That said, we want something that will stand up to the weather but also look nice in our house. IÂm not sure which material is better, so would appreciate your help!!

Our two options:

1) Fiberglass: this option would be the only fiberglass door/window in our house (the rest are marvin integrity). If we go this direction, we have to use five 2Â 10" doors for a total span of 14Â 2". Thus, the span is 5" smaller than what we can use, but the fiberglass seems like it would be more durable

2) Aluminum clad: this option would allow us to use the entire span of 14Â 7", but would use aluminum on the outside and wood on the inside. We like the size of this one, but want to ensure that aluminum clad is going to be okay for our exterior application.
