Trying to find dark bronze door knobs/levers
Comments (4)Thanks but Hoppe Rodos does not appear to have interior door knobs. I know that is not the exact brand because I asked Milagrd what they use. But htose companies they use for this hardware also don't have door knobs....See MoreDoor Knobs to Levers
Comments (8)The standard door today and back about the past 30 years have been bored one of two ways. The edge bore is usually a 1" hole and the standard ASA 2-1/4" mortise cut out. THis will accept pretty much any latchbolt on the market. Most latchbolts come adjustable for the two standard backsets of 2-3/8" & 2-3/4". It will be one or the other. They haven't changed this in a very long time. The only issue you may come to will be the face bore where the new lever will go. The standard in the industry is 2-1/8" hole. This hole is used today for locksets and deadbolts. Some older doors from the fifties will have a 1-5/8" bore for locks. If you have these then you can pick up a little plastic kit that has a hole saw and guide to re-bore the door for the bigger size. But most the time you can remove the old lock and put the new one in. Todays levers come with many different types of handles. Most of them curl up or down to prevent eye injuries. They also put some type of ball or curl on the ends to take the sharp point away. Hope this helps. Good Luck!!!...See MoreModern: Door knobs or levers?
Comments (29)robin posted: "We had levers everywhere when I lived in Europe. I was forever catching a sleeve in one as I walked by, or a jacket. Or catching them on my arm--but I am not really graceful. They look nice but I got tired of the bruises and stretched or torn sleeves". When I had a serious fall with lots of injuries and had to get around the house, the levers were easier to use, but like robin mentioned, I kept catching myself on the hooks I would walk by! I cut off my belt loops after I got grabbed when walking by one door in particular! I even caught part of my sling and cast on one, and OUCH! I know one would say well, don't walk near a door, but, when on meds one tends to walk near walls and guide yourself around. Once my case came off, the lever again was easier to use with my sore hand. So, there are two conflicting reasons why I will rethink putting them in my next house....See MoreChanging lever handles on Chicago faucet to porcelain
Comments (2)Have you called or tried Chicago Faucet Shoppe? I've bought grohe replacement hand held shower heads from them, no issues. I tried to find replacements for my (brand) Chicago Faucet porcelain levers when I was selling my house...the threads inside the lever were beginning to strip out and I was frequently adjusting the orientation of the lever handles. In the end, I had the faucet replaced with one plain chrome when I listed the house. The faucet set a long discontinued color and I couldn't use brass or chrome even with just a little showing. Color was something like 'midnight pearl'...a gleaming charcoal color kitchen or bar gooseneck that I loved in that bath for about 25 years ;0) Porcelain handles but not inexpensive Hmmmm. That link doesn't seem to work? Lets try this one...See Moreflseadog
